I experience random crashing in both single-player and multi-player. There is no error message, the game simply closes. However, it appears that crash dump files are generated; I can provide them o...
I was having the random crash to desktop issue. I tried a clean install of Windows 7 followed by a clean install of Windows 10 but the issue remained. If I try to run the game in full screen or border less windowed modes it will randomly crash. If I run the game in windowed mode it seems to have stopped the issue. While playing, I occasionally hear the Windows 10 chime and wonder if something in my hardware setup is not playing nice with the game.( Keyboard, mouse, etc). I guess the main thing is I wanted to share with other players whats working for me. Hopefully this might help someone.
While it did help to run the game in a windowed mode it started to randomly crash to desktop again. I ran the Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool and it showed my RAM was fine. I have two 8GB DIMMS so I decided to test each one by running them solo and see if I could determine if the crash was tied to one of the DIMMS. I found that either one seemed to crash just the same. When I reinstalled the second DIMM my computer failed to start and gave me a "Overclocking failed" message. I don't overclock because its caused too many headaches in the past. I noticed in my motherboards UEFI (graphical BIOS) that "Optimal Performance" was selected instead of "Normal" or "Power Saving". I checked and sure enough that setting was doing some overclocking. I changed it back to "Normal" but had an issue were my motherboard doesn't like the second DIMM(maybe bad? Need to test more aka flip flop them). I have been running with one 8GB stick without any issues tonight. I think I will wait a few days before I say 100% it was the cause.
