8 years agoCrashing to Desktop
I experience random crashing in both single-player and multi-player. There is no error message, the game simply closes. However, it appears that crash dump files are generated; I can provide them o...
I have only had the game for a couple days now but the game just doesn't seem to run right. At random moments in the game, more noticeably in space battles, the game will freeze for a brief second and then kick me back to my desktop. I don't get any kind of messages when this happens so i have no idea what is going on. I've tried varying levels of detail qualities and resolution levels and then seems to make no difference. All my drivers are up to date. The only thing i can think of that might cause some kind of issue is that Origins is installed on a 120 GB SSD and the game is installed on a 1 TB HDD but i highly doubt that's the problem. I've already tried ruining both programs as an admin with no luck and tired clearing the program and app-data files with no luck either. i have monitored the utilization of my hardware and while there is a high CPU and GPU load depending on the settings the temps stay reasonable the whole time and i never get close to using up all my ram and vram. I'm just really at a loss because when the game crashes i get no error codes or prompts to what might of happened

Hey @Nate55B
That sounds like a weird issue, especially that SWB2 nor Origin don't show any error messages 🤔
My suggestion would be to check your HDD for any errors. Right click the disc and choose properties. First use Check and then Optimise.
If it doesn't help, you can also delete those files from STAR WARS Battlefront II folder in Origin Games folder:
Remember to use Origin's repair option before launching the game again.

Same here. After today's update game freezes and crashes to desktop. Happens on battle report screen or after player's death on unit coosing screen. I play for 4 montjs now, and nothing happened till today and I had 6-7 crashes during 3 hour random gameplay. So maybe it is a bug????
Hey @UmeshSkywalker
Could you try out the steps, which I listed above and let me know if they helped?
I will let our specialists know about the problem right away then 🙂
Edit: Clean boot might also be a good idea!
Thanks in advance!

Will try the directx option and advise

Nothing changed ☹️ Can't play whole match, as after random number od deaths it crashes ☹️
No way:
1. game looks so much better in DX12
2. no suttering in DX12.
Hey everyone!
So I assume we can more or less confirm that changing from DirectX 12 to DirectX 11 solves this problem for now? 🤔
Remember that you can disable DX12 in video options 🙂
Thanks!

Same issue right after the Solo patch.. They need to fix this ASAP.
Hey everyone!
We're still gathering more information about the problem. It would be very useful if you could send us your DxDiag reports for review.
Thank you in advance!

Here is my DxDiag, as asked.
And one omportant thing: with Dx12 game crash only on multiplayer. In campaight all run fine on Dx12.
Mine is crashing since the new update a couple days ago also. Never happened before that. I have not yet tried disabling DX12 yet, sucks if that's what I have to do but I will try it.
Game would randomly crash in lobby, or when clicking on the equip cards button in the lobby.
Also sometimes the block ability quits working until respawn occasionally like when I'm using Yoda.
Attached dxdiag.
Disabling DX12 did fix the problem for the time being it seems for me at least.
But then I ended up having quite a few end of matches where the top player wasn't shown, after disabling dx12. Prob not related but didn't have the problem still I disabled it. Would repeatedly just show as ''no data, match already over''. Even though my connection and everything else was good.
Trying to come back to the game after a long break and I crash between matches pretty regularly now. 18.2.1 AMD drivers, RX 480 card, no other issues with games or hardware. Don't have DX12 enabled because that caused crashes way back when.
I will try troubleshooting and/or waiting for patches but I don't think I'll try *that* hard given that the developers don't seem to be trying too hard to keep the game stable.
Same thing started happening to me after the last patch. Usually on the post game screen or on spawn screen. It's irregular. I may play 10 games without problem, other time it's just 1 game. I noticed that it's connected to overloading of display driver (nvlddmkm) that stops responding and gets restored - it may not even be registered as error in Event viewer, just notification. I have installed latest nVidia drivers - did not help.
MB: Asus Z87-K
CPU: i7-4790
GPU: GTX 1080 Ti
RAM: 16GB
HDD: SSD 250 GB (OS), HDD 3TB (game) - both tested in HD Tune, both OK
OS: Windows 10 Pro (1607 - Anniversary Update)
If you still have this issue, I finally managed to fix it.
Go to C:\Users\YOURCOMPUTERNAME\Documents\STAR WARS Battlefront II and delete all the files here.
Change the path with your computer name and eventually the correct drive location (d: instead of c: for example)
You can copy all the content in the folder for backup just in case.
Once all the content deleted, open Origin, right click on the game and choose repair.
It'll repair the game & reset your in game settings.
I did this last night and played a couple of hours with zero crash.
