Crashing when loading into any match

Hello, I recently bought BF2 on the Christmas sale. I played through the campaign and a few multiplayer matches with no issues and great FPS, but then recently it started crashing when I load into anything. Even previously played missions in campaign and arcade are crashing to desktop. I only have about 6.5 hours on record for it, I already tried checking the game files on steam and I reinstalled it completely.

I am including a dxdiag file because that seems to be the first thing everyone asks with these sorts of issues.

  • I was chatting with technical support today and fiddling with all the settings, and disabling directX 12 fixed the issue. The first time I played it like this, I got an error code 2369 but when I restarted the game this error went away. Thanks for the help, hopefully future posts from me will be about much more awesome stuff than this!

  • DXDIAG indicates you have 3 monitors connected to your GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. Your issue may have something to do with the monitor config. Try playing with only one of the monitors connected. If that doesn't work try each of the others. Once you get 1 working, try 2, then 3. You may need to try different monitors in that sequence.

just troubleshooting for the time being...

Okay, I just tried this and it did not work. Unplugged 2 of the 3 monitors from the GPU and tried it on each of the 3 individually like that with no difference. I also made sure vertical sync was turned off (I had issues with that in battlefield V), and tried it in fullscreen, windowed, and borderless modes. Still crashing when it loads into any sort of match.

Glad to hear you got it working.

DX12 would certainly do it. (Really poor DX12 implementation on that game.) I find it interesting that the game was working and then stopped. Did you turn on DX12? From what I recall, the default is off.

No, I never turned it on. I did not mess with the settings prior to this issue, the only thing that changed on my computer was I downloaded some more games on steam. Only thing I can think of is maybe one of those games enabled it for BF2? idk I am just glad it is fixed now.
