This is potentially an issue with IPv4/IPv6, can you check the following article and specifically the section on Internet Protocol Version.
This kind of issue is more likely seeing as you and your friend are on different ISPs who may be handling the protocols differently.

Hi,
I am facing this problem even after following all these steps. I bought the ps4 recently and accessing the game via EA Access subscription. Fifa 19 works, but Battlefront II still gives the 5020 error whenever I am trying to invite my friend in the co op mode.
Me and my wife are having 2 separate PSN ID and EA ID but only I have PS Plus. Both playing on the same console. The objective is to play together, whether Co Op or Online Multiplayer. Nowhere I am able to get the second player added.
I too have a Telstra Smart Modem and already did all the steps mentioned, DMZ, ipv6 etc.
Can anyone advise about the final solution if achieved or whom should I be taking this up with ?
P.S. I am facing the same trouble in other games like Uncharted 4 while Fortnite works.

I think you need 2 consoles to play online together. I have 2 and my son and I play online together.
