Game-breaking exploit in the melee/lightsaber combat system: The "parry" glitch

Product: Star Wars Battlefront II
Platform:PC
What is your issue related to? General
Summarize your bug A glitch that allows the player to gain unfair advantage and deal damage while they are basically invulnerable to enemy attacks.
What is your gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name? Szaby59
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Can you tell us the date (MM/DD/YYYY) that you saw the bug?
What time did you see the bug? (HH:MM AM/PM)
In what game mode did the bug occur? Heroes vs. Villains
What is your time zone?
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Requires 2 lightsaber heroes, or someone trying to melee a blocking lightsaber hero (like those annoying bots in Co-Op). Can tell exact details in PM and even submit a video if necessary, but I don't think I should discuss it publicly...
What happens when the bug occurs? The bug allows the player to skip the attack and blocking animations but still deal damage, while they can also retain their blocking state -> They can damage their opponent, but the player who is doing the glitch won't take any damage.
What do you expect to see?

Has been in the game for months, more and more people abusing it.

Some will argue it's a mechanic even though there is no information about any "parry" mechanics in this game, there are no ways to counter it and there is no animation for it either - in fact the whole "mechanic" is about skipping animations.

  • I wasn't vocal about this just because how this game favors spammers, and this glitch is actually a great tool against them. Spamming can ignore CC abilities, can ignore dodges, can turn the character almost 180 to hit someone who dodged to his back, can make abilities performed by the spammer to ignore their animations. And spamming takes a huge advantage of staggers, and it also staggers, so yeah...

I agree this parry is more akin to a glitch then a mechanic, but I'd rather they transformed it in a proper mechanic then just get rid of it. This game suffers a lot for making the life of spammers so easy.

  • If someone is doing a 'parry' just don't spam them with a saber attack, problem solved. If it's a bug or deliberate, I welcome it anyway because the game rewards spammers a lot. Half the time due to input lag the parry doesn't work anyway
