Having Hard Stutters in the game

I just reinstalled the game after not playing it since July of last year.  But now I get these hard stutters that come up randomly and make the game unplayable.  I'm not sure what is the cause of this and have tried a lot of stuff I've seen suggested like turning off DX12 and my drivers are up to date.  Funny enough the one map where it isn't random is on Kamino, where it basically stutters whenever the lightning effect on the map happens and it's only when im outside.

my PC specs:

CPU- Ryzen 5 5600x

GPU - AMD RX 6800

RAM - 32GB

my cpu usage is also almost at 100% when the game is on, not sure if that is relevant here but I couldn't find out why that is either.

EDIT: i've attached a Dxdiag report

Yes, it's relevant. SWBF2 is GPU intensive, not CPU intensive.

I suggest you attach a DXDIAG report, as someone may spot something.

  • You did turn off DX12, right?

Try unplugging one of the monitors and see what that does.

You want to turn off any overlays for troubleshooting.

There are multiple errors at the bottom of the DXDIAG report, including something about a wallpaper32.exe. I'm not well versed in those error codes, but something in that section may be contributing. There's also something in that section that suggests you have/had mods installed. Good luck there. You may have a system reset in your future.

  • @DarthFDG DX12 is off, i have the mod launcher installed but im not running any while trying to fix whatever is going on. the wallpaper32.exe is wallpaper engine, i shut it off and i still had the stutters. Something i have been seeing is that newer AMD drivers are having problems with the game and reverting back to the drivers from last May might help but i dont know if that might mess with any of my other games.

The fact that the files are on your system somewhere is potentially the issue. You don't need to have the launcher running to experience issues.

While the mod files may not be the issue, it is certainly a possibility. I suppose a related question to ask yourself is, "Did I install mods between the time the game was running fine and now?"

I gave you some examples of things I saw at the bottom of the DXDIAG report. I suggest you look at whatever else is showing up there.
