Speak for yourself, I see this bug all the time and with newer players coming into the game I see a lot of low ranks exploit the glitch, all it takes is for some enemy team to exploit this glitch to a new player (s) and they can easily Google or search YouTube how to do this glitch. You may say it's easy to fix but it's quite obvious they didn't know how to fix it or why is a game changing bug like this still in the game? And you're wrong about Microsoft not banning because I personally know some who have been banned for glitch exploiting. Maybe not as much now, but they definitely did. You sound quite knowledgeable about the game and it's a shame they didn't have devs like you on the team!
@A_Bugs_Iife I’ve been into video games since the late 80’s, I’ve seen a thing or two as it pertains to game design & development.
This glitch works because players are able to exploit making a character choice before the game can recognize which characters are active in the session. By changing the order of code execution within the game the Devs can make it so that the game makes the identification process occur before the player can make any selections. There are other options as well but this seems to be the easiest.
There are a lot of game impacting bugs that have been around since the beginning that the Devs haven’t even spoken about let alone fixed. When they don’t even acknowledge constant player reports of bugs it makes one wonder whether they care. Some items could be resolved simply by removing a feature or mechanic yet they’ve left it broken.
Microsoft would, at one point, levy bans on players who partook in significant exploits or ones that had Dev backing (see GTA money glitches) but that was some time ago. Now that Microsoft is is more online oriented with their business they’re not likely to ban anyone; especially if they don’t have evidence of the exploit and you don’t have a method to provide attachments to a player report so good luck with that anymore.

You do have a way to give evidence, you just clip what happened and tell them the time and date when it happened when you report player. Like i said, I know people who've been banned on this game by xbox live and it's a brutal ban - console banned!

@A_Bugs_Iife This issue has been clipped before and is a “known” issue which is why I didn’t clip it. If this was something new then I would have.
Don’t rely on Microsoft banning cheaters, especially of this type anymore. Microsoft isn’t interested in the hardware market and is moving in another direction. I’ve reported players recently for far worse and no action has been taken.
The Devs need to realize that a lot of us, myself included, have refused to buy additional titles like SW Squadrons because we’re not confident in their ability or willingness to build a balanced game; especially for Star Wars.
The “New Game +” update that was released for Fallen Order was an absolute flop and just went to show that the Devs didn’t have a good mindset. When we see things like that and continuing bugs like this that they ignore then they lose credibility as a developer.
EA’s contract with Disney for Star Wars titles is set to expire in 2023 and investment fund managers that hold majority EA stock can use these forum threads as a way to make decisions about executive compensation as well as further contract awards.
posting these bugs and issues here isn’t necessarily just so EA can ignore them; most of us know they will .. it’s so these can serve as documentation for bigger decisions regarding EA and the future of Star Wars titles.

" they’re not likely to ban anyone; especially if they don’t have evidence of the exploit and you don’t have a method to provide attachments to a player report so good luck with that anymore. "
I was replying to this. You do have a way of sending evidence to xbox live. Clip the last 30 seconds up to 10 minutes is an option you can do on your xbox and you send it to xbox live by reporting that player and submitting a comment that you've attached a clip with the time and date. Also you make no sense saying they don't care about this anymore because they make more money from not banning which isn't true. They can potentially lose way more if they just allow people to exploit glitches and turn them away to a rival console etc. If they never banned , imagine how many more cheaters there would be because they found out you don't get banned. It would be bedlam and all the fair players would give up playing on xbox live. Like I've said again, I've know of people be banned on this game quite recently. If they didn't care , why would they ban people on a 3 year old game that doesn't really have a huge population?
