I didn't have this before, but now, all of the sudden, this is a big issue for me with all classes on all maps. I haven't changed my setting, so what is up?
So, a few things, I tested some stuff after reading a few responses elsewhere on the internet. This is not related to my controller stick, as some threads have suggested. Stick is fine, and switching controllers does not change the problem.
I use L2 to zoom on PS4. It is only when holding L2 that the walking drift occurs, and this happens if I am not touching any other button. If I use the "toggle" option for zoom instead of "hold", the drift does not occur unless I hold the L2 by accident. There is no drift whatsoever if I am not in zoom mode. So somehow, the "hold zoom" command and/or the L2 button is tied to forward movement.
Some have suggested that "stick dead zone" affects this. Well, if stick dead zone is set too low, I do get walking drift with or without zoom. Changing the stick dead zone DOES affect walking drift when I am not zoomed, but it has NO EFFECT on the amount of drift that appears when zooming.
It is clear that there are locations where this does happen, and where this does not happen. I thought it might be related to items on the ground in front of me that stop forward movement, but it's not. In some places, there is no drift, but in most places, there is. So on Takodana, for example, I can stand in the middle of the flat area before the rebel headquarters, and get no drift, but if I move forward a few feet, I do get the drift. If it were simply a controller issue, I would imagine that it would happen everywhere, regardless.

Oops I mean Yavin 4, not Takodana.

Been talking to others who play this on PS4 in my groups, and they also have been experiencing this in the past few weeks. So it is not just me or my controller. This is a new problem for me, I've been playing since release and not experienced this until the past two weeks or so.

I never experienced this on PC. Maybe, it's a console issue only? Knowing it's tied to an extra function of the trigger button on PS4's controller, it seems more likely it's an issue with using a controller instead of M&K.
I'll try to replicate this using a controller on PC, when I have something on it I'll share it here.
