Is force push/grab blockable from the side/rear

So I know that jedi/sith can block force push/grab etc, but does this work while blocking if you are hit from the side or back? It seems like it's sometimes yes and sometimes no. Makes it a bit frustrating when it seems like only you get thrown about while block and others feel the effect of a gentle breeze wash over them. Inquiring minds want to know...

  • Hello @DaiJooky and thanks for reporting in!

    The mechanics work the following:

    • If you block as a lightsaber character and you get a force push from the front, it will not affect you.
    • If you block and get hit from the back with a force power, it will still affect you.
    • If you get hit from the side, it will still affect you (until you get at an angle in which you are aiming from the front)

HOWEVER, there are a lot of bugs with hit detection of force powers. Certain force abilities do not affect opponents which are not blocking and right in front of them in range. This is known to happen to Yoda's unleas, Luke's force push, Luke's repulse. So if someone is blocking and you hit them with a force power from the back, it might be this bug preventing the action from affecting the opponent.

There is not much we can do about this, but you can try to always get behind a character to perform the force powers (by jumping over the opponent or dodging right through them), so the chances to make a hit are much bigger.

Hopefully, that clarifies this for you, have a nice day!
