Lando's smoke is the absolute worst hero ability

Nothing even comes close to the trash tier, where Lando's smoke stands. Except for the center of the smoke which is about one meter wide, it offers no sight obstruction. Boba can see through it with for the hunt, Bossk can see through it with predatory instincts, The Emperor can see Lando through it because he's highlighted for chain lighting, kylo can see him when he's highlighted for frenzy, Grievous can see him when he's highlighted for thrust surge, Dooku can see him when he's highlighted for exposed weakness, Phasma has her own night scope and BB-9E can see him when uses his wallhack which comes with even superior smoke. Can't believe Vader can block while using all of his abilities and even gets dmg reduction and cc immunity for one of those abilities, but Lando's smoke remained trash for the three years despite players requests to make it better

  • Yeah it's pretty garbo. But if they have to keep the smoke ability, how can they make it so that it's good but not broken and still make sense?

    Make the smoke bigger and thicker by default and change the bigger smoke star card into something else? Enemies who enter the smoke are disoriented and slowed? Lando gets some damage reduction while standing in the smoke?

  • I guess there are very few fps games where smoke grenades are not absolutely disappointing... I agree with you.

    As BB-9E has a radar effect with it's smoke, it'd be cool if Lando had the same (though he already has a radar ability).

    I remember in Battlefield 2142, radar smoke grenades were a thing when playing as the assault class.

    But then again, if people used that grenade, it was only because it was the only way for the assault class to have a radar effect as the smoke was quite useless in this game as well lol.

    Battlefront 2015 featured smoke grenades as well, but these were bad too. Just like the smoke nades from Battlefield 3 were crap.

    Funny how some things are always the same in all games.

    Unfortunately, we won't ever see any changes here, as there's no game support anymore.

  • @Dexyns It should slow down and disorient people by default, as well as being bigger. Or it could “clog up” weapons and make them need to reheat, except with the way it reheats when you don’t cool it properly in the reheat mini game thing
  • @TRlALON Cod smoke grenades are OP tbh, they last ages, are thick as hell, and disorientate the hell out of everyone lol
  • It's only decent when you play as Lando in the campaign mode. Otherwise it's basically useless

  • They should make it like boba’s concussion rocket and also make it so scans can’t go through it.

    BB-9E's Smoke effect is great, and even if it didn't have a radar attached.

    1: BB-9 produces a better smoke: It's less visible to allies then Lando's, and it's more thick to enemies then Lando's;

    2: BB-9 is a small and fast hard to spot dark ball. He's already hard to spot without his smoke depending on the place and situation. Having the smoke only further helps his hit and run tactics. Lando can't run from anyone and he's as easily visible as anyone else;

    3: BB-9 stays spewing smoke for longer, he can move while using it to smoke a bigger area, and his smoke takes longer to dissipate. Lando drops the smoke in one place and that's it;

    So BB-9 was a great choice to have a smoke effect. It suits him. And what he got is far superior then the Smoke Grenade, and to top it off it comes with a radar effect as well.

    Lando OTOH isn't suited for his smoke effect at all. Devs imagined that using it as cover for lando would be a good idea. It is not. In Hero modes combat is always close, be it because of so many melee characters, or because of the layout of maps, and Lando's smoke makes nothing of note in CQC. For bigger modes it can serve as cover, but it only makes sense for Far ranged combat, which his pistol is terrible at. And although sharpshot has a huge range, what's the point of lando being able to see through the smoke if Sharpshot actually doesn't need to be aimed at all?

    All in all, they nailed a smoke ability when giving it to BB-9, but they failed miserably when giving it to Lando. Even the BX's one is better suited because he can actually move fast and use it to confuse the enemy about his position. And his smoke is thicker then Lando's, despite Lando's having the property of not blocking so much allies' vision, which the BX one doesn't have.

    @RogueZeroRendarI agree, BB-9E's smoke ability is good. Well, the fact that some other aspects are involved in this and not only/mainly because of the smoke itself makes the overall ability a good one.

    Lando's smoke nade ability, like some other hero abilities, falls under the classic "sounds good, doesn't work (against human players)" category.

    They even removed Leia's stun grenade becaus it proved to be straight ineffective against any human player. Mabe with continued support we'd seen a change for Lando's nade one day.

  • Agreed his smoke cloud needs a buff.Only time I use it is when I’m on a close quarters map trying to flee.But if I’m on a map like Felucia or Jakku I’m screwed.
