After S2 E2 (...or TM.E10, whichever) I get creepy vibes from The Mandalorian.
Creepy; "Have babies" command-vibes. Or You know... Subliminal messaging.
Maybe that's not the intent, but It just kind of comes across that way ... With so much focus being placed on *BABY* Yoda, and now, the Frog-Lady "Save my species from extinction" narrative. Paired with the Crazy Momma Spider and her born-combat-ready-ilk. All three similar scenarios being jammed in the same episode gave me pause for some critical thinking about what I was taking in. The Frog Lady being nude so readily in front of the Mandalorian... If she were more human-like, how many people would feel uncomfortable with that situation being depicted? Why is it okay to make female characters strip and bath in front of protagonists? (Do we speak for only human women, because we are human? When do we stand up for the principles of the things?) Also... If she is really a frog lady, then why was she going for heat at all? Aren't most amphibians partial to cooler temperatures? (And even go so far as to simply shut down during colder seasons?)
[On a somewhat related/nonrelated note; BABY BOOMERS! YOU WERE KIND OF AN ANOMOLY! Our population was lower before you came along, if newer generations don't want to have kids; that doesn't mean we're doomed. Generally, we were in lower population numbers PRIOR to the boom. Humanity just seems to be heading back into those numbers. Maybe it's just that lower numbers are our default. Just think If we stick with so many old fogies for ... maybe seven generations, we could expand our life spans, and people who are older in the future may be stronger than those of these gens. So just chill. Don't worry about the future too much. ]
It seems as though someone was being sneaky with slipping in trigger-esque buttons throughout that particular episode.
There were some parts that straight up brought me down when they occurred. (*My mate also found this moment to be rude->) The Mando's Tatooine fuzzball friendo, Peli Motto; when she mentioned something along the lines of Mando rusting his armor from too much pouting/crying. Mostly. I get that there is a desire for strong female characters, but when you have them being restrictive to males by enforcing a gender stereotypical role; to buck up and not be emotional, to do work, then I don't care how strong the females are.
Gender equality loses when it puts one gender into a stigma...
Anyway. This week's episode put me into a funk. Hopefully the Mando provides more enjoyable episodes later...
Maybe there were subliminal messages, but I don’t really think that that’s what the writers are going for. Yes, some parts were weird(the frog lady in the spring), but the episode was kind of straightforward.
Perhaps it boils down to certain points of view.
The thing is that the [frog] lady disrobing in front of the protag isn't weird though.
This exact scene is a consistently used one in various stories.
Just remove the word [frog] from the narrative.
^ This is why it seems as though someone was writing sneakily.
They're seemingly putting themes into the show that aren't generally acceptable from family oriented crowds. (From what I've observed. I'm certainly not of that group, personally. )
By passing the hot-topic subjects onto different characters, they can trick audiences into settling for things they usually stand against.
[To give you a better example of what I'm talking about... ' 'A gun company ' ' wanted to boost their sales, so they appealed to mothers. This line of thinking was that; if mothers are tolerant of guns - their entire families will be.]People likely aren't going to get upset about a ' 'Frog' ' -Lady disrobing, because they don't see it as; "A lady undressing in front of the main character." They're too distracted by the emphasis on the fact that she's a frog - before she's a woman.
Another nod in the direction of sneaky writing, is the word Skank being placed into casual conversation. (Again, from an outsider's perspective, family oriented people seem very distraught when cussing gets used... At all.) They snuck this word into a phrase that uses a bunch of sci-fi jargon. (I have no gripes with this, but I can still actively observe this and be aware.)
Lastly, the depiction of the death of underaged lifeforms. The [Frog] eggs that were being eaten was kind of a pass- because they may not be fertilized. The details regarding the [Frog] eggs seem to be that those ones still require to be fertilized??? But there was very little room for doubt when Baby Yoda straight up walked over to a spider egg, cracked it open, and ate the contents - a young space-spider-baby-thing. (So gross...) There are already jokes on the internet swirling around about how Baby Yoda is killing more young-things than Anakin killed young-lings. It is sneakily writing in the theme of killing innocents, by both A) Using an innocent-seeming life-form to perpetuate violence against other young lifeforms and B) Using alien characters to divert the seriousness away from the direct theme; Juveniles dying.
I don't particularly take issues with nudity/cussing/basic laws of nature, but when I'm thinking critically of something; I challenge what I typically think, with the ideas and opinions of others in mind.

Episode 2 was a little bit disappointing for me to be honest
Saw a video off IGN that theorized those troopers at the end with Moff Gideon could be a canon appearance of Dark Troopers. They also pointed out the clones in the tanks looked a lot like Snoke. Not sure if these Dark Troopers will be just like the now Legends material or not.
Also, not sure who "the volunteer" could be that the doctor was talking about.
