Even clone wars if probably the most requested content, a lot of people seem to forget that the galactic civil war is just an equal part a lot of fans, including myself, grew up with.
Im not especially hyped for the Solo movie, since the huge let down from Last Jedi, but Solo Content means Civil War, Tie Fighters, X-Wing Squadrons and more of the iconic OT stuff.
Im really looking forward to the Solo season, its not like there wont be clone wars content in the future.
I did not forget about the Galactic Civil War, and I love the Original Trilogy just the same. Bashing that was never my point - my point was that there is plenty of characters and maps from that era already, and almost none from the Clone Wars. This is not okay in a game advertised as "across all eras".
Also, based on the trailers, nothing in Solo feels iconic. Too many high-profile actors running around technology and visuals that also highly differ from the Civil War era. It is not even strictly in that era, so none of the new characters and locations will actually match up with the existing content.
I know that Clone Wars will eventually come - my problem is that after playing ever since launch, the content grew old, and CW would have been exactly the solution, because it actually differs enough from the existing content to feel fresh.
Well, clone wars has exactly the same amount of content than the other two eras.
Two maps in SA Ryloth & Kamino
Three Maps in GA Kashyyyk, Kamino and Naboo
+ they also got two special maps (which were not "cut out" of the big ones) Naboo Hangar + Kashyyyk Treehouse.
The only point were you are totally right is the lack of heroes for that era.
And yes Obi Wan, Anakin Grievous and Dooku are definitely missing, but I dont mind waiting for them. At least this way I can look forward to future content. However, I'd like to see Tarkin and Thrawn just as much as Id like to see Grievous and Dooku.
About the movie - we just dont know what we get. Personally, Id liked the Last Jedi Season in Battlefront much more than the movie. Phasma is by far not such a huge disappointment as she was in the movie. Actually I really like her in the game. I like the Crait map design, the idea they had with the "smoke screen speeders" and the battle is more fun than it was to watch it in the cinema. But again, thats just my opinion.
So aside from the obvious "young" skins, we know nothing. I hope we get a map in/on the moving train, that'd be great!
So, we have an update... Oh Jesus Christ, this is even more underwhelming than I thought.
We get a recycled Battlefront 1 DLC map as a "new season". Yes, yes, "part 1", whatever, this is pure BS. Completely disillusioned.
