[PC] 02.12.2018 Battlefront II Stuttering Problem. Weird Stutters

I bought Battlefront II, two days ago and I am experiencing a very annoying issue. So the problem is that no matter what settings I use, i get 60+ fps, but every 5/10 seconds I get a stutter, in which everything stops, but I can still use my camera. It happens on singleplayer (Campaign, Arcade) too.

CPU is not throttling and its frequency is fine

Issue present only in Battlefront II, every other game runs fine

Specs:

Lenovo Y520-15

CPU: I7 7700HQ

GPU: GTX 1060 Max - Q

RAM: 8GB DDR4

HARD DRIVE: 2TB HDD

OS: Windows 10 Pro

Maintance done:

- Turning off Directx12,

- Turning off Origin In-Game,

- Turning off Shader Cache,

- Deleting Shader Cache folder,

- Installing old Nvidia GeForce Drivers,

- Installing the newest version of Nvidia GeForce Drivers,

- Setting Battlefront II priority to High and Above Normal,

- Setting my power plan to High Performance,

- Limiting the CPU use to 99% max in power plan,

- Verifying game files,

- Defragmenting hard drive,

- Disabling fullscreen optimization,

- Using Razer Cortex to disable additional process even the explorer.exe,

- Checking the CPU and GPU temperatures and frequencies,

- Scanning my hard drive (no bad sectors etc...),

- Installing Nvidia GeForce hotfix drivers.

It's really weird and sad I can run Assassin's Creed Oddysey, or Far Cry 5 on very high / ultra with no problems, but I can't run this game without problems

EDIT: I noticed that first match after starting the game loads perfectly fine and runs without any stutters, but any match after it stutters a lot. Also after that first match I experience slower character models loading times in Collection Menu

So reseting the game after every match helps, but it's not the fix that i want

  • I added another 8 GBs of RAM, so I have 16 now.

Loading times have improved, stuttering stopped and everything is fixed!

Hey @Vit0_By, while playing you don't notice any issues with overheating and nothing of your hardware is capping out at 100% while playing in task manager?

  • Hey
    GPU stays at 65/70 degrees
CPU sits at around 78 degrees

It is normal for a gaming laptop
Every other games (AC:Oddysey for example) runs fine

I've already ordered another 8 GB of RAM

I will let you know how it runs on 16
  • Hi, sorry I m no expert, but I had same Problems with GTX1060.

Do you have the 417.35 Drivers?

Was unplayable for me too and actually couldnt even load the Game most of the time.

    This is what I did:

    1) 417.58 Driver Fix for 417.35 Drivers

     https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4758/~/geforce-hotfix-driver-version-417.58

    2) Close any running ASUS Graphics Software if you got an ASUS Card.

    3) Disable Ansel:

    Go to C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\Ansel\Tool

Run NvCameraConfiguration.exe and check disabled at the bottom.

Loading Times are now better for my 6 GB RAM *yep real old PC*, Game STARTS  and I dont get so much shuttering. Weird stuff.

Good Luck, tell me if it worked <3

  • Hello,

So I just got the game and had some problems like this as well. I tried digging online for a solution but nothing worked for me, so I decided to try and fix this myself.

I navigated around the games' collection menu where I ususally experienced loading/stutter issues while trying to change the appeareance of any class.

I had the task manager open on my other screen and observed what happened every time the game would stutter, and after some careful examination I saw that every time the game "freezed" Bitdefender Antivirus' usage would rise to about 0.2% and then after the game "unfreezed" it would go down to 0%.

So I uninstalled Bitdefender and sure enough now it works perfectly! I wasn't afraid of removing Bitdefender since Windows Defender is pretty good on it's own but if you don't trust it that much you can download Avast (for free, and no this is not an ad lmao) and it won't cause any problems with the game, at least it doesn't for me.

Hope this helps someone as well since I saw nobody talking about this fix!

    Best regards,

    Nixy

  • Hi!

(if you didnt solve it) download throttlestop and turn off BD PROCHOT it helped me on my Asus laptop.
