PC locks when starting SWBF2 match since last update

Since the last patch on PC for Star Wars Battlefront 2, when I start a match the screen turns red and PC completely locks up and has to be shut off. I completely restored windows 10 64 -bit pro from an image and installed SWBF2 fresh and it is still happening. ☹️

  • If must have been the video driver, but I had a heck of a time getting everything set right so I didn't crash to a red screen whenever I entered a match.

My video card is a Sapphire Radeon Nitro+ RX 580 4GB.

Here is what I did to fix my issue:

    - Did an uninstall of the video driver.

    - Ran the amdcleanuputility.exe from the AMD site. "https://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMD-Clean-Uninstall-Utility.aspx"

    - Instead of downloading the graphic driver from AMD, I downloaded the most recent driver for my card from the Sapphire site.

    - Installed the graphics driver.   NOTE: I did not install the "Relive" portion.   (I don't know if that would have effected the outcome or not.)

Now I can play SWBF2 without it crashing.

    Hope this helps someone else.

  • bummer.

If you run dxdiag.exe and attach the file, that will help people understand your issue better.

    nice rig you got there.

While I'm no computer engineer, I didn't see anything obvious.

Do you have DX12 turned off in the SWBF2 settings?  It was causing me issues and not adding much value.

  • Thanks.
I am looking in video settings in game and I cannot find it in there anywhere. And I remember seeing it when I first got the game and I had it off then.
    Where is it located?
