Explosions and smoke is often pixelated. Lasers and lightsabers are jagged. The after game screen that shows the highest scoring players looks really badly pixelated. The scan lines seen throughout the game are really jarring and hard on the eye. Something about the graphics looks grainy and off (and it's not related to the film grain option). It almost feels like the game is running in the wrong resolution but adjusting the resolution in Xbox settings doesn't help. There's also something off about the lighting on some levels. It seems too bright and glaring and doesn't transition well between settings (Kamino looks terrible). When the game is loading there's a moment where the image of Rey, Iden, and Darth Maul seems to switch to a different resolution and you can see Maul's face is all jaggy. Feels like it's in wrong resolution. I know something is off as I reinstalled game and instead of installing updates I stayed offline and played arcade mode and it looked fine. No pixelation. Something has been introduced to the game that is screwing up the visuals. The worst maps are Crait and Hoth where the pixelation on explosions is really bad. The settings menu on my Vizio TV compresses the screen down to about 3/4 of regular size and I've been playing it with the menu up as it looks a lot better compressed. The scan lines look much better and although it's still a bit pixelated and jaggy it's at an acceptable level. All other games work fine by the way. This is a problem specific to Battlefront II. Please fix as otherwise I really like the game and it's a total bummer that it looks so bad that I can't focus on the gameplay. I'm using an original Xbox One by the way, not S or X.

@Princey1138 Hi, can you provide a few screenshots of this?

From your description it sounds like your GPU might have issues, but I'd like to see some images before I'm sure.

Any info troubleshooting steps you might have taken before (system restart/factory reset) may help too.

    Thank you.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Can't be the GPU as all other games/apps etc. are fine and I've never had any issues.

Also, there's a lot of other people posting on this forum about exactly the same problems. Bad pixelation, textures etc. especially with smoke, explosions and lasers/lightsabers. Seems unlikely that it's my machine that's the issue.

I've included some pics. Note Rey's jaggy looking lightsaber on Naboo. Also included two pics from Kamino. That entire level looks really bad with all reflections heavily pixelated. Hoth and Crait also look terrible but there's issues on every map.

I've done a system restart and factory reset and it doesn't help. As I mentioned in my original post, I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling without going online and downloading updates. I played arcade using this non-updated version of the game and it didn't have the pixelation issues and seemed a lot better (this is the earlier version of game before option to remove film grain was added).

Apologies, I just uninstalled again to check my assertion that the game looked better before the updates. I tried Kamino on arcade and it looked just as bad with fuzzy pixelation in the surfaces as in the pics I posted.

Just wanted to update with a few more pics. Check out the fuzzy smoke on Crait. Also, see victory screen. Characters are a pixelated mess but the scoreboard elements of the screen are high res and fine. Lots of that going on where some aspects of game are fine but then certain elements look like 8 bit nightmare.

Any updates on this issue? I noticed that the 1.2 patch made things even worse (the foreground elements like character gun and hands were pixelated) but last night's update seems to have fixed that. Still getting terrible pixelation on smoke, explosions, reflections and victory screens though.

Hey man, thanks for posting this, I know it’s about late but I’ve been searching everywhere as I have the EXACT same problem and it’s bugging the * out of me!! Worrying it’s my Xbox but other games don’t look this bad.. did EA end up getting back to you??

No, they never got back to me outside of the first reply. Just learned to live with it but it's super annoying. One thing that I find helps is sitting further back from screen. There's kind of a sweet spot where it looks really good and a lot of the pixelation isn't as visible. Crait still looks bad though. I've wondered if it's my Xbox, HDMI cable, TV etc. but I don't have these issues anywhere else. What I wonder is if the game is optimized for newer versions of Xbox One (I have the original) and that means that certain elements of it don't look so good on the original model. Of course, EA aren't going to admit that which may be why they don't respond fully.

Thanks for getting back to me, I have the xbox one s so I’m not sure if that’s the problem. I just worry that it is the Xbox but it doesn’t overheat or come close to it. I really hope they get back to us considering there’s a lot of other people complaining about the same things on other forums! You’re right about the sweet spot though, thanks again!
  • Yeah I have the xbox one s too. I have a vers on the ps4 and xbox one and my ‘s’ is the only one I have this problem with.
