We were able to get people back in the game by approximately 10pm (GMT/UTC) and everything looked fairly normal by midnight.
The problem was caused by an issue outside of our control and hopefully your evening was not ruined.

Hi currently having issues suddenly I cannot play my game and my account won't allow me to connect for multiplayer
I’m having this trouble now, can’t enjoy my night after my race which was awful, now I can’t change that tonight
