Re: Bespin map door bug

I recorded a video showing the issue (please excuse the stuttering, my hard drive apparently can't handle recording while playing lol):

It seems like this specific door asset in general has a hole in it's collision box, since the spot I found here looks not to be the same posted above.

  • Most of the time it's like this, the problem isn't a hole in the map itself, but in the prop they used. The collision overlay of this door object was badly applied, and because of that all doors that are the same model as the one each of you found will have this bug. Likewise on Naboo, there was an entrance like this in some parts of the wall in the generator room, every entrance was the same object. Also on Endor, all similar ceilings in the tunnels leading to the computer room had this same issue. It's always a problem in the objects used missing something in their collision overlay.

So if you ever find a missing collision spot in an object, expect it'll have this same issue in any other object that's equal to the one you originally found it on.

^ Yep, exactly that. If an object or asset has an issue, every instance of it will have it as well.

So it should be pretty easy to fix every spot if they just adjust the collision hull of the door asset.
  • However, they prefer to use some metallic boxes to fix the issue instead of redoing the collision overlay of the object. I have found another entrance inside Endor and there you can see a metallic box where it used to be the original entrance to the world inside the walls. Death Star has this same metallic box underneath some tubes in the lower room of the last part of the map in GA (the place where we play HvV). Curiously though, they chose a prop which has an invisible face towards the map, so if the place can be seen through, like on Death Star, you won't see anything, but if you have a way to come from inside the out of bounds area, you'll see this metallic box.

The same way many walls and terrain can't be seen if you're inside walls, but can be seen if you're in the playable area, this prop to fix holes can't be seen from the playable area, but it can be seen from inside the wall. I'm sure they'll put many of these metallic boxes behind these doors with holes in Bespin.

    Interesting, didn't know that.

Quick and "dirty" way to fix these kinds of issues, but if it works I guess it's fine :D
