I am not from EA, but the credit pay-out system nor the prices of the heroes did change in the last couple of months! You still earn the same amount by playing the game and the prices to unlock heroes are the same. 

Though multiple heroes and villains have been released lately and it is possible that you spend more credits than before to unlock these! I would suggest spending your earned credits on the unlocks for heroes before buying cosmetics, as cosmetics can be paid with real money. The heroes cannot be unlocked with real money.

If you want to earn more credits faster (so have higher credit/min), I would advise you to play modes in which you end up higher on the scoreboard compared to other players. There is no 'golden' mode in which you standard earn more credits (for as far as I know), so just play what you like and where you perform the best!
