I actually lost internet connection early this morning for about 25 minutes, so that would lend some credence to it. UK here with Virgin Media for internet.

@SYNCHRONICDESIGN This morning of course but is there "direct" news in UK of fiber lines being cut? I posted replies with the news article from https://www.dailystar.co.uk hours ago.
- fiber post......https://twitter.com/EAHelp/status/971814163180916742
The issue isn't with players connecting to the internet. Its EA's server farms not being connected. That's why I am doubting their suggesting fiber cuts. Their farms are world wide. The fiber cuts would have to be worldwide to wouldn't they? I'm voting for a bad server update rollout. Cant wait to hear the real story, if ever. - Anonymous8 years ago
@Varth_Daderski
Exactly! Intelligence dictates that even the slightest fiber cut would be newsworthy! I can show multiple examples or simply you can "google it" Only two tweets mention fiber cuts today March 8th 2018, only two...
EA 1:25 PM - 8 Mar 2018
We’ve heard about several fiber cuts making it hard to connect to the internet. That also affects how you connect to our games and http://help.ea.com . This is still being investigated and we’ll keep you posted when we know more. -EA Help Team
Blizzard 12:28 PM - 8 Mar 2018
We've been informed of fiber cuts on the net impacting connectivity with all of our games - also authentication, web features, etc. Still being looked into, no ETA at the moment. Thank you for your patience. If two competing games publishers both announce there has been a problem due to fiber cuts, there probably has been one, and they probably rent out the same server farms.
I have error 1066 .Cant play multy game battlefront 2 . Does anybody know what to do ?
@Rauf82 read the thread, or any of the comments before your one.... Or the big yellow notice at the top of your screen saying there are server problems.
Thanks) i wrote comment, onlafter read ur comments))

@SYNCHRONICDESIGN With that logic then where are the complaints from others such as Ubisoft who hold dozens of games online now. Or Steam? Or Nintendo? Sony? Microsoft?

The exact cause by the Overwatch servers down error is a strange one. From a tweet from the official Blizzard Customer Support Twitter that was retweeted by the official game page, we can figure out what the issue is that's causing the servers to be down. Apparently, "fiber cuts" are affecting all of Blizzard's network, including online games. These fiber cuts are not Blizzard's fault or solely affecting its services, as the fiber cuts are affecting all of the internet for various regions around the globe.

Thank you for your patience. @mysweetescape13 With that logic I would not make the assumption that Ubisoft, or Steam/Valve, Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft have their servers located in the same ones as EA and Blizzard?

I would also like to point out Activision Call of Duty WW2 is not affected, repeat is not affected
- Also it appears to be the authentication servers that are affected, which would explain why players are sometimes able to enter a match, but are kicked later. And some have received incorrect error warnings of "cheating". Also it would explain why this is affecting everyone, and is not local to your own regions game servers (EU/US/AU etc...)

Perhaps you should check this out then. Internet Outage Heatmap
- What has that got to do with anything? As far as we know the situation is that the fibre optic cable connecting the EA and likely Blizzard servers (likely authentication servers, not game servers) has been cut.
- I'm in the northeast US and have Destiny 2 access just fine.

@SYNCHRONICDESIGN You are not alone Blizzard & EA servers are down in multiple regions https://www.hackread.com/blizzardcs-ea-servers-are-down-in-multiple-regions/
Blizzard however now reports 4:14 PM - 8 Mar 2018 The issues which were affecting connectivity to our games are now resolved. Thanks to all for hanging in there! - With any luck we should be almost sorted then if Blizzard fixed their issue, assuming that the cut fibre cable was the same one affecting both publishers authentication servers. Perhaps Blizzard rebooted their systems faster, since they have a hell of a lot of experience from World of Warcraft with massive servers and the issues that come with them. My bet is in the next 30 minutes it will all be sorted.
