Have you tried to play the game with a different controller? I would also suggest to change the controller settings in the game options - sprint should always be mapped to pressing your left stick, but changing it might trigger the action properly.

I'm having a similar issue on PC, I'm using an amazon basics xbox controller. It works perfectly fine in Apex Legends, but can't seem to sprint in Battlefront 2. My left shift (which is my bound key for sprint) also doesn't seem to work.
