I bought Star Wars Battlefront 2 on Steam. Can i by add ons from EA and will they work together?

This thread suggests it should work. However, based on all the issues I've seen people having mixing purchases from different companies, I'm not sure.
Give it a shot with a cheap add-on and report back on whether it worked.
