Starwars Battlefront 2 Question

When Starwars Battlefront was first released, I remembered you were able to buy loot crates and such forth.  After looking at the latest news, I see that you all did away with the purchasing of loot crates.  With that said, I noticed that there's still a currency and that I'm still able to buy crystals.  What is this 7 currency, and what can I buy with Crystals now?

  • Let me explain it a bit more. There have been a lot of changes to the in-game purchase system! (it has been hugely improved).

So when you play an online match or an arcade match, you will earn CREDITS. These are represented with the 7 logo.

Also the daily crate gives you these credits. With credits, you can buy skins in game. (looking to August, you will be able to buy emotes and victory poses as well). You cannot buy credits with real money.

In addition to this, if you want to earn the skins faster (which gives no gameplay advantage), you can pay with real money for CRYSTALS. Crystals is the premium currency of BF2. With crystals, you can buy the same skins (and later victory poses and emotes). You can also earn a few crystals by completing some challenges. Check out the BF2 menu for ones that give crystals!

When playing the game, you level up your classes/heroes/vehicles by playing them and earning XP. Once you go up a class level, you gain a SKILLPOINT. With skillpoints you can buy or upgrade your star cards. The higher your class level, the more star cards will be available to buy/upgrade.

Before the change in progression system, we had CRAFTING PARTS. With which we could buy star cards and upgrade them. Some players still have some crafting parts and they are allowed to exchange them for skillpoints in the game. You might get some crafting parts from challenges or in a special celebration crate.

Your overall rank, the level you see when you finished a match, doesn't do anything anymore. It is just a measure of how far you are (your rank). Going up a rank will grant you some credits if I am not mistaken!

So I hope this clarifies a bit!

    Hi @TheChiven

At the moment you can only use Crystals to purchase cosmetic items - skins, to be exact.

However, in August we're planning to allow emotes and victory poses to be purchased with credits or Crystals as well 🙂
