Forum Discussion
@TRlALON Regarding the Reddit users; you didn’t address the fact that many users have no choice but to utilize outside platforms because of issues with EA / Origin. Yeah, 100%, some threads are garbo, but guess what, some threads on the official BF forums are garbo as well. I can’t post there but I can read them.
I agree that not every Youtube creator should be able to dictate game development and EA / DICE made their biggest mistake but not recognizing what portion of the player base they should consider back when the game was larger.
As for the player base; have you seen BF 2’s player base numbers? They’re incredibly low. When you talk about “what are all the current online players supposed to do?” … what players? The numbers show that hardly anyone plays this online anymore.
The biggest complaint with BF 2015 was no campaign … the biggest complaint with BF 2 is the online multiplayer. The campaign is great. So split the difference. Given the numbers it’s clear that the number of people who “expect” BF 2 to be online is a VAST minority. Besides, with all of the AI that’s been added to the game many modes are available even if the game isn’t online oriented.
I do agree that pulling BF 2 isn’t going to instantly fix EA’s reputation, but they have to start someplace. They have to start with some actions that begin to convey that they’re trying to turn a corner.
All I’m saying is that the suggestion of pulling BF 2 and leaving 2015 as the online platform could be a start, combined with other efforts.
I have more respect for someone that admits a mistake and starts making efforts to go in a new direction. I’m not saying pulling this title instantly makes that happen I’m saying it would be a step in that direction. They would still have more to do but as also a die hard Star Wars franchise fan I could live with BF 2’s offline content and 2015’s online content. At least I would have consistent and stable online gameplay.
Why would I want to hold on to a poorly designed broken game that yields junk gameplay value?
@VetteC5RXThe Origin problem doesn't change the general problematic though. Even if it's not limited to reddit, those posts of players not contempt with the latest change are going to appear.

Should we get started about the player numbers of BF2015? That's not in a glorious spot either, but those players would be upset as well if EA just takes their game away.

And I just say that this is entirely possible by adressing the future games, by showing result that are related to that and without doing something that will just feel negative, restrictive, like taking away something from players that like playing the game online for their own reasons and on top of that risk an outrage.
If they finally release that epic Battlefield game, it's the proof of their intent to keep that promise, nothing else needed.
See, both games have those crappy Rush modes, but only BFII has Supremacy that basically allows playing the Titan mode from BF2142 while also resembling the Clone Wars battles. It's not hard to imagine that this is a reason why people would play the game now and then.
The games have also some some greater differences in mechanics, so the entire online play is different enough to say that those are indeed 2 different games.
It's not like in Battlefield 3 and 4 which are very similar except some flashy new features like different knife skins, levolution...
Just let players play the game online if they want to, they can drop it themselves if they don't want to anymore.
