The problems with this game started long before the Devs began listening to the wrong people … sure that didn’t help but this game was already a runaway train by that point.
The decision to include a depth of logic and mechanics to a game like this was its weak spot … cast times, rates of dodge charge, combination delays, etc. There is a slew of programming in this title that’s essentially fluff. Not only is it not necessary but works to ruin the game because it’s more than the engine is able to resolve. Add in more junk like input stacking and you were bound to end up in the toilet.
Once the Devs went down the “mechanics” rabbit hole they lost any ability to balance the gameplay because they couldn’t keep a broad focus on how each of these mechanics would interact; there were just too many conditions.
BF2 isn't WoW or any other open world RPG; it shouldn’t include any of those logics.
sometimes less is more and if the Devs had taken the core of BF 2015 and simply added the content variety of BF 2 they’d have had a hit. The gameplay would have been much more stable and rewarding and the complaints of BF 2015 would have been addressed with the story campaign and inclusion of more characters … albeit I do criticize that they left out Rouge One characters from BF 2 yet still decided to port a low quality Scariff over.
either way; long & short … don’t over-program your games and you’ll be ok.
@VetteC5RXAgree, this game started going down hill long before the last few years, started with the passive health and all the infantry weapon nerfs imo, then the lame zero skill ways to get battlepoints. It should have been 8000 for reinforcements and 10000 for heroes, or minimum 6 for reinforcements and 8 for heroes. Let’s also not forget the absolute unlimited saber block in this game, never seen anything like it. Saber combat is basically use force moves, wash, rinse, repeat. A game with everything but not good at most anything.

@xProdicate Oh for sure! The enforcers wouldn’t be so bad if they weren’t so OP; they’re just overly broken and more usable than the hero & villain characters which is totally jenky.
The unlimited block is the WORST! Saber combat now literally amounts to “dodge dancing” and being behind block. Actually, let me rephrase that … the “dodge immunity” was the WORST thing they ever did. Instead of requiring someone to dodge out of a hit or ability AOE now they just only need to dodge and they’re safe .. so between block & dodge that’s the root of saber combat and it’s garbo.
- 4 years ago@VetteC5RX Yeah and I’ll also add that saber lock/stun is so strong if you spam enough it literally locks you in without having to use the joystick on console. Then if you’re getting multiple saber hits or force moves done to your character it leaves you immobile, cancels out any type of retaliation.

@xProdicate Oh yeah, that’s BAD in this game and the input stacking only makes it worse as that’s more jargon for the engine to try and resolve.
what’s worse is junk players see that and seem to think it’s the result of a “parry” even though this game has no parry mechanics. -_-

Last but not least don’t forgot possibly the worst purposeful made matchmaking ever made, all for the sale of loot boxes.. It doesn’t get better even after hours of gameplay. Then there’s the most toxic mode in gaming, Heroes and Villains.
