Why wasn't this mentioned EA?

I am happy to play for credits or loot crates as long as it is not a ridiculous demand. Some of us have other commitments in life like family and can not devote every hour to gaming as much as we all would like to. In spite of my time restrictions I would still like to get hold of high level heros.

I dont mind micro transactions for credits to buy stuff given that EA as providing free DLC and there is no season pass that seems fair. They have to make money on this, however I despise paying for loot crates. that is just gambling and should be illegal in video games unless they are plugged into a power socket in a Las Vagas casino

Both of the two strongest heros for each side are unlocked by default- Yoda and Bossk.

Literally the only 2 locked heroes worth owning that are locked are Luke and Vader.

And they straight give you heroes that are very similar to both of them.

A melee Jedi when they give you two melee Jedi for free and a melee Sith when they give you two melee Sith. 

Honestly, Vader is probably the worst melee sith and Luke probably is the worst melee Jedi. Yoda certainly is better than Luke and Rey probably is too and probably both Kylo and Maul are better than Vader. Being fast and slippery is the most important thing for melees and Vader and Luke are the slow beef versions of melee.

It's far from game defining to own any of the locked heroes.

The highest level heroes about anyone has at this point is Kylo and Rey because you get purple cards for both with the deluxe.

There is no way to get another hero high level reliably. Even buying crystals and buying a ton of boxes isn't probably going to get you the cards you want for the hero you want to focus on. The biggest thing the boxes give you is crafting parts which you need to upgrade your cards, but there is a high level restriction to get the purple rank 4 cards so no matter what you're going to be grinding. Really no practical way past that...

Not that you need to be high level to dominate with any hero. You should see what Sacriel does with Yoda with green (rank 2/4) cards equipped.

I don't understand how people can support this system and Ea's shady business practices. If you can't see the problem with how broken and unfair this system is to the consumer you are not fully grasping how bad it is. EA's own game changers are criticizing this poor excuse of a progression system. Just look at all the reviews too. This will kill and ruin the consul gaming industry if this continues. 

People who say I don’t mind paying are foolish. Agreed. I am sick of microtransactions. I am sick of Origin client as well. last game I buy from EA.

Likewise, Spunkie_Monkey. EA is off my purchase list. 

But it's not EA, but their leagues of braindead apologists, that really disgust me.

I miss the days where I can simply buy a game and that's the end of it. Not have to worry about grinding or paying more money to get ahead for content I already paid $60 for. It scares me people will defend this.

Let me clarify ny point. The $80 for the game should I agree give you everything that comes with the game at release for free. Why should you be paying $80 dollars if you have to make further microtransactions. It should be either one or the other as with mobile games. It is very shify to charge someone $80 and then once they have committed effectively tell them that they cant play all the game unless they part with more cash. That is like charging for the game twice and that I think its what we are all (except perhaps Peligrad) angry about. Its $80 already !!!! Thats a fortune.

However, I doubt EA and other companies will make future DLC without some future revenue stream to fund it. Further to that they probably need to fund keeping the online server service going as that aint gonna pay for itself. In order to provide DLC they can make money either by charging for it up front before you buy a particular DLC pack, or by charging for a season pass, or implementing micro transactions. The similar for funding the servers, its either a season pass or microtransactions. EA have chosen not to charge for future DLC or a season pass, this is not them being kind to us as instead they have chosen to implement microtransactions (similarly this is not them being mean to us). They have simply chosen a revenue model for the future to fund DLC and servers. The question is whether their implimentation of this microtransaction model is fair.

I personally prefer microtransactions instead of season passes as it allows me to give a little money at a time when I fancy it rather than paying a bulk up front for the season pass only to then perhaps find I dont have the time to play and thus use what I have already paid for.

As I said the question is whether their implimentation of this microtransaction model is fair. I think you must make stuff you get from microtrasactions also  obtainable through game play else it is 100% play to win. However as a lot of people angrly point out it is still in a large part play to win and if you make it 1000 hour of play before you get something you want or need then it forces you to buy stuff making it only a facade that not really 100% play to win.

What would you prefer for funding future DLC and maintaining servers:

A) Seanon pass

B) Upfront DLC fees

C) Microtransactions

I personally prefer C (as long as itt s not for loot crates as that is just gambling and so should be illegal particularly if kids are playing). My question is how should the micotransaction system be balanced fairly and how can we get EA to do that for us? Or should we go for A and B above?

@chinnyreckon very well said. When all DLC was announced to be free I was excited for it and actually supported the idea of micro-transactions as a trade off. But at the time I was under the impression that as you said it would be fair. In it's current state it needs to be adjusted drastically. Going off information from Reddit roughly $2,000 or 4,000 hours to unlock everything is extremely unfair and more money they would make from a season pass for $60. Those stats are no mistake either and were clearly put there to see how much they could get away with. A fair price range would probably be say $120- $300 to unlock everything quickly and maybe a few hundred hours to unlock everything without paying in my opinion.

The system to me feels cheap because it is tied too much to progression almost everything you unlock is only through crates. They should have implemented a system more closely reassembly that of Battlefield 4 with that crate system. Mostly had cosmetics and some special weapons parts that didn't really give players a clear advantage over others but those weapon parts were cool and interesting to have and everyone wanted them. All the other weapons and parts had to be unlocked through game play alone. They could have also implemented just having simply cosmetics that people would go crazy for like clone trooper skins and such. Overwatch made over a Billion dollars from crates that only had cosmetics in it. But with this they simply don't have enough content in the game to do this which they do need more of like weapons, parts and skins for example. 

Making crates contain only cosmetics would be perfect. That would remove pay to win completely, And as you say EA would earn more than enough cash.  A recent post on Star Wars HQ says EA are looking towards cosmetic crates and making progression less random. Whilst this seems to imply the removal of items needed for progression and performance from crates this is not explicitly stated by EA, just that they are looking to imporve the progression system. So how they will do this is still unclear. They did say that nothing is to late regarding changes to these systems.  So lets put the preasure on!!!! See link below:
