XBOX Battlefront II Celebration issues

I am hoping someone can definitively answer this question.  I see many people having the same issue, but resolutions seem to be all over the board.

I've had Battlefront II on Xbox for quite a while - my 11 year old son plays it.  He says to me he wants the Celebration pack upgrade - I buy it from Microsoft, with my account, because I don't know any better - only when it doesn't work do I found out that DLC (downloadable content) can't be shared across profiles.  So I log into the Xbox, the content is there.  My son logs in, it's not.  So then I read an an EA forum that buying the whole Celebration game (not just the upgrade) will work with all profiles (I think this was PS4, but I figured it should be the same with Xbox).  Nope.  After buying the whole Celebration game, my Xbox profile can access it, but with others, if I try to find it in the store, it says "Battlefront 2 is installed.  You can play it or buy the Celebration edition".  I get this on other adult profiles, not just my son's.

Is the whole Celebration game considered DLC because I bought it online?  I've bought other games online and haven't had an issue.  It doesn't make sense to me that I would have to buy the game for every member of my family - is that really the case?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Bill

  • Hey @zjb2676 DLC such as the Celebration content is only available on the account which purchased the game. While other accounts will be able to access the base game the extras will only be available on the account which purchased them.

For any questions as to how game sharing works on the Xbox, the best thing to do is to speak with Xbox support.

@zjb2676 Are you both on the same Xbox? If you are log in your account first, start the game and then change profile in game to your son's. You might also check family settings in Xbox live if you haven't already making sure your son is listed (you may have to lie about his age for him to be able to play online). If you have separate Xbox consoles, then set his as your home Xbox and yours as his home Xbox. Come back to me if you have any questions.
  • We are having the same issue, we have already set the hole Xbox the way you said, it is still not showing up on my profile. It shows it’s owned when I go to the store, though

@KlumzyKitty3If you have set the 2nd xbox as your home xbox. Log into it with your profile download the Celebration edition ( you said MS store said it was owned not installed?). When all is complete, logout then login to the alternate profile. The game should work with all features. If it doesn't, then change back to your profile, start game and then change profiles within the game. I forgot to ask if you have set family settings in your xbox profile remembering the age restrictions on some of the games.

  • Yeah we did all of that. I found in another thread that the celebration edition was sold as if it was an expansion pack but actually worked as DLC. It’s shady AF of EA but we just ended up buying me the celebration edition game so now I own my own copy.

  • I think I know whats happening I've had it happen to me, adult accounts have access to all games on the console. However your sons account only has access to what they buy, that might be the problem, if so I reccomend reporting it to the xbox family help page. And if that doesn't work buy the games through your sons account, or make them an adult account. sorry if this dosen't help. I have a simaler problem with EA., I bought this game on microsoft and EA wants me to buy it again through them.
