After trying the 2.0 patch the performance in vr did not change at all compared to the release of the game. Someone said the fps lock was no more but can't confirm. No matter if I set the graphic settings to auto, low, medium, high or ultra I got the same results.When will VR be optimized and fps uncapped?Also the games crashes SteamVR everytime you exit the game.My specs:Valve Index HMDRyzen 9 3900xRTX 2080ti32gb DDR4SSD

I actually figured out my issue and perhaps it would solve for you (or at least lead you to a clue).In short, the game just doesn't WANT to run properly above 60fps/60hz, despite the patches that say otherwise (at least on my machine). It's bizarre.I have a 75hz monitor, and the game's fps holds rock steady at 75, but the actual motion feels jittery. Same issue when I try to stream the game out to my TV via Nvidia Shield, unless I cap everything at 60.When I went to VR, I had 2 problems:I have a Windows Mixed Reality headset, and for some reason, there was a default setting in WMR (within the SteamVR menu) for "Motion Vector Reprojection" which was capping my fps at 45. The game ran OK at 45, but when fast-moving objects moved horizontally across the screen, I got very bad "jitter". Again, not really framerate, but something wrong with the processing. Disabling this Motion Vector setting inside SteamVR solved it, uncapped the 45fps limit, and brought me up to a varying 60-80 fps.But that's where actual performance issues kicked in. Something about the game varying higher than 60 (dipping, spiking, etc.) made the game run terribly. That's when I remembered the Hz issue from pancake mode.Last night, I locked my headset to 60 hz (the way I would set my monitor or Shield to 60 in order to get Squadrons running smoothly) and magically, the game is perfect for me now. Some might call this a sacrifice/tradeoff, since my headset is 90hz and I was getting 80ish fps...but as you said, it was very uneven and unplayable.Additionally, there is some sort of "window focus" issue going on when I first load the game, which also caused confusion. Game has horrible stutter when I first load into it, regardless of settings, but if I click out of the game, then click back into the window (sometimes more than once), it re-focuses on the game, and then performance is fine. So be sure to give this a try before you assume that it's your system tanking.Lastly (and you may have seen this), there seems to be performance issues/compatibility between Nvidia's latest drivers and SteamVR. I wonder if this is the window clicking problem, or a larger problem that may not be affecting me. But some folks have rolled back their Nvidia drivers to earlier versions and had some luck. This could possibly coincide with the game's November update - meaning, it wasn't the game, but some coincidental driver/SteamVR issues that happened around the same time. But a lot of this is speculative, and I didn't want to roll my drivers back to March, since I am happy with general performance across games.I hope this is helpful! Please let me know if you have any luck with it. I'm very happy playing this game in VR at solid 60, and I probably have headroom to bump up resolution a bit more and finally dive in after weeks of fiddling.

Just tested in 4.1 version, Fps drops etc are still an issue, even in low settings or resolution set under 80%. Just tryied set at 100% resolution for nostalgia...(like when it was working !! 😅) Please it's gorgeous ! Beautiful ! So immersive !I want to play again in those conditions with stable Fps ! 72hz/90hz...whatever ! Just stable and fluid flight experience !May The Force Be With You, Always...

After the 2.0 update, I'm really missing the SteamVR Supersampling. It seems like I can only run the game at 0.8 resolution scaling now, and it looks way blurry compared to what I was seeing in SteamVR. I really hope they're working to optimize for PCVR.

Same here. I have RTX 2070 Super. The funny part is that the game was fully playable in VR at 1.2 supersampling, Ultra details. However, the last couple of updates turned the game into a mess. I can't get a stable 72hz even on low settings at 99% in-game resolution. I'm really annoyed about this... I'm using Oculus Quest 1 with Link. Origin version. I love the game...but I can't play the pancake version anymore, not after I spent over 20 hours in the game...there is no turning back now.

I7 8th gen, RTX 2070 Super, SSD etc...
I played squadrons on my ps4 pro until it died (sooooo sad), it was a very smooth and fluid experience.
I love the game ! Hotas + VR (instruments only) + Star Wars Starfighters = What a Dream ! Thanks again !
I bought this awesome game a second time (Steam PC version) to enjoy it on the oculus quest through link cable.

Yes and no... Unfortunately...
The game auto settings puts everything at maximum.
I Remember the game few updated after launch, was running pefectly fine in my headset through steam vr + oculus link without issues. In game + steam vr Resolution set at 100%.
There were no lag/stuttering/frame drops/ghost frames etc...
It was marvelous !
From a certain update, the game's performance in VR makes it "unplayable" to me...
Everything on the computer is daily updated.
However, even turned with low graphics settings and resolution set under 80% i can't have a "simple 72hz" stable experience for now... #ghost frames/stuttering etc...
Also, the game now launches in VR through oculus link, without or unconstantly using the Steam VR app.
However the performances and frame issues remain... I can't solve anything...
I played around 100hrs in those poor conditions because i love this game too much !
CPU and GPU stats keep between 40% and 60% (sometimes rarely hit just under 80%, quickly).
Whatever i try, i'm not able to have a stable VR experience and enjoy this game more, without risking my health...
Please help ! Really !
I have now the oculus quest 2 and i'm dreaming about Star Wars squadrons in full ultra settings at 90hz on my headset !
Please consider and support.

@ChadSquadron88 This is exactly what happened to me. I'm wondering if RTX 2070 Super is the issue here? EA and Motive should really look into this, considering that majority of people use that card...If they don't fix this soon the game will just die...
