The "Evasion" system for the game is bad. I know the game says that it works best with a controller but I am terrible with controllers. 100 games in the past have had the same system for evading attacks. The direction of movement keys and double tapping the space bar. My thumb isn't doing anything anyway.

I hated any double tapping stuff for evading attacks in any game and was happy when I was able to change it. I'd also rather hold the button instead of double tapping it for a dodge roll, but tapping once for a sidestep and rolling by double tapping works for me so far. :D
Try mouse button 4 (the lower side button) for evasion. Works great for me.
No 3D game ever will get me to use a controller on my PC. It might be a good thing for slouching on the couch, but for looking around in any 3D environment, it's always and ever mouse.
Same here, mouse button 4 was the trick.
@ROE_HUNTERI used a program (specific for Microsoft mice) that let me macro a double tap Z key to mouse button 4 to let me roll. So Z is evade, MB 4 roll away. I'm sure there's a freeware mouse utility that will let you do that.
