Epic store version won't stop saying it needs to Update

I've reinstalled the game twice.  The only time I've gotten the game to work was initially when it was installed to my C:\ drive.  I didn't want it there because that's a small SSD and I had Cyberpun...

Have the same problem with the update request not going away.

The game also silently fails after the initial launcher splash is finished loading.

As there are no errors and I only have the inbuild Win10 defender, this is difficult to troubleshoot
