Error 4270 Star Wars Squadrons

Posting this again since EA closed down the other thread regarding error 4270 in Star Wars Squadrons - claiming it was “necroposting” without offering any solutions or updates…

Here is my original reply to another player - and several other players who posted within the last few weeks - regarding this multiplayer invite issue. I am able to invite at least one other XBox player to multiplayer in crossplay, but not other PC/Steam players…

“I am on Steam and can successfully invite my buddy on Xbox using his EA ID, but I cannot invite any other steam friends using their steam ID or EA ID - I’ll get error code 4270 for all of them. It sucks because a couple of them just bought the game during the Christmas 2024 steam sale and we can’t play together at all…

We’ve tried turning off crossplay, exiting the game, logging back in and turning crossplay back on - doesn’t work. Restarting the PCs also doesn’t work.  EA!!!! HELP!!!!”

The response from EA’s community manager (five days later) “Closing thread to avoid necroposting. If needed, please feel free to start a new topic.”

Well EA, here’s your new thread on this SAME topic that your players are STILL having and are STILL recently posting about in a thread that is definitely not “necro…”

  • I am having the same issue.

I have been able to set up custom public matches with my friends, only downside is you don't earn experience from them. However, it does work if you want to do pvp dogfight, co-op fleet vs AI etc...

Not sure if this helps and it certainly does not solve the actual problem. But at least you can play with your mates.

  • I’m glad I’m not the only one having this issue, I’m also sad I’m not the only person having this issue. Hoping for a resolution or a response from EA at least.

Well, thank you! I originally replied the "necropost", but the issue seems to be very much in a non-necrotic state, so I'll repost my reply as well.

"Same here. A lot of people in the remaining Squadrons community seem to be running into this Error 4270.

What seems to happen is that some players will get basically locked out of using the friends list, so that all actions (spectating games, joining games, sending game group invites) will result in the error. Oddly, sometimes those players can interact with some friends, but not others, so occasionally we've been able to work around the issue (player A cannot invite player B, but instead invites player C, who can invite player B).

AFAIK there doesn't seem to be any actual relation with crossplay, as it can happen whether friends are on the same platform or not.

This is of course extremely annoying, and has proven a pain point for some of the newer people that joined the game over these last weeks with the sales in different platforms. As well as the usual "unable to boot the game" issues, there's been a lot of posts on forums about people unable to play with their friends.

We'd appreciate any updates on this, and hopefully a fix, as this game is starting to accumulate enough issues that it's increasingly hard to sustain a playerbase around it, let alone have any new players stick around and not immediately refund the game with a negative review."

It's a really annoying problem to have, one that leaves a terrible impression in a lot of newer players, and that prevents the remaining community from properly enjoying the game, so it'd be nice to have it be addressed, or to at least get any sort of update or any show of willingness to address it. We can hope!

Welcome back to the madness then lol! I love the game and have spent many hours since launch playing on Xbox, but I got a Quest two and have been living the dream playing this game in VR on my PC. Unfortunately the game gets really repetitive due to the lack of content, but playing with other friends brings a high level of enjoyment back! Now with this error limiting gaming with friends it’s just so frustrating! The gameplay is great and I’d love to see more levels, a campaign expansion and campaign co-op. A mission editor like XWing vs TIE Fighter had back in the day would be amazing because then we could create our own content - but we need multiplayer to work correctly first! EA seems to just be too big for its britches and needs to sell of the IP if they aren’t going to support it properly. A smaller studio able to focus more on their players instead of their shareholders would probably go a LONG way in making games amazing again - like before EA got the exclusive NFL licenses and now don’t have any competition to keep them on their toes so they can just regurgitate bugged annual releases and only support them for 18 months and if you get sick of it the only way to end your pain is to fork over another $70 for the new title. GIVE US STAR WARS SQUADRONS 2 THEN EA!!! OTHERWISE FIX YOUR CURRENT PRODUCT!!!

  • I have the same problem. I try to play with my two sons, but every time when some of us send Invitation we see ERROR 4,270. Is there any solutions?
