10 years agofps issues on PC
Hello Community! Hope you can help me out. ive got some really ugly stuttering an frame drops recently and dont know how to fix them! gtx970 i54460 8gb ram the strange thing is that i never got...
Do you have a multi-core CPU?
What are your windows power settings?
Some CPU's will attempt to power-save when they are not using ~50% of CPU. This results in a reduction of the CPU frequency/clock to scale back the power consumed. Surprisingly, the CPU load can often drop below this even in a heavy game. When this happens, its noticeable as stuttering laggy framerate. (also make sure bios is set to use OS power management, which is usually the case by default)
You can turn this feature off by either choosing "High Performance" power option in windows or by creating a custom power scheme and changing the settings to suit.

This gives a general idea of how the settings can affect performance. You want to make sure that GPU, CPU and PCI-e link states are all running 100% at all times.
You can also google "Turn off CPU parking" which may also help.
You can check your graphics performance with the following console commands:
PerfOverlay.Enable true
PerfOverlay.DrawGraph true
PerfOverlay.DrawFps true
It may help to run windows task managers performance monitor and look for programs and or CPU frequency or load changes as you see spikes/lag in-game.
Hi, Thank-you for your response.
Unfortunately, I am already familiar with this information and had already taken these measures before making my last post.
My Windows power settings are set to High Performance, I have also checked the individual advanced settings to ensure nothing was set incorrectly.
I have checked my BIOS settings and disabled parking on all cores.
I have checked the Task Manager for any process CPU or Memory usage during this issue.
I would not really class this issue (at least the issue I am having) as lagging though, rather a constant drop; Where my frame rate was once >100fps constantly, it is now <20 constantly.
Regardless of settings mentioned earlier.
I will also note that I have tried a few more things since:
Remove, reseat graphics card, check PCI-e power connectors to GPU.
Reinstall Windows 10 and install fresh NVidia drivers.
One very important note is that, one in every 20-30 launches, the game will work PERFECTLY, and as long as it is running, it works great, >100FPS!!
Just want to give you the most information I can, thanks again for the help.
I'm having the same issue as other people here, and the common denominator I'm seeing is Windows 10. What was happening to me is the first time I boot up the game after restarting my computer, the game runs fine (~40FPS). Every time I run the game after that (until I restart my computer, and then it will work once) it will barely be above ~28FPS, and the difference is noticeable.
Sadly, I downgraded back to Windows 8.1 and now Battlefront runs like a charm.
