@EmmyV7 In my personal opinion, there is one singular reason why people resort to that un-fun meta of spamming turrets. It's the way the ranking system works. The ranking system promotes winning at all cost over individual skill (be it K/D ratio or capital ship damage). So if you wanna rank up, you have to win....not necessarily play well or play fun.
I've been saying that the ranking should reflect your skill as a player, not how many times you've won as a team. That's why many Galactic Aces are not that impressive once you separate them from their regular team. They managed to climb to GA by playing with their standard bunch every day and winning every match. But in a 'hiccup match' (ie. with random people), it's not that unusual to see a Valiant play much better than a GA.
Worse part about that is that upon losing, the Valiant guy pays the price with his rank and not the GA. This is exactly why people resort to un-fun metas - to win at all cost. You solve the rank problem, you solve the meta problem.
