Heartache Over the State of Battlefront (and Battlefront II)

We're now in the EXACT situation many players, including myself, had warned DICE and EA about before Star Wars: Battlefront launched in 2015: that it was way too focused on online multiplayer. If the player base ever dwindled enough, or when the servers are taken offline, about 90% of the game could become unplayable. 90% of a game players paid for to play and enjoy. They didn't listen, now here we are... and it breaks my heart. I absolutely love this game. Star Wars: Battlefront II, as well.

It was critical a server browser was implemented so locating matches with sufficient players could be done efficiently (just like in their Battlefield games). It was also imperative an instant action mode with full support for ALL maps, game modes, weapons, power-ups, Star Cards, vehicles, Heroes, etc. (including any added via DLC) along with robust AI functionality that utilizes all content and gameplay features be implemented so players can play and enjoy the game even after the servers are taken offline someday. If they couldn't code the AI appropriately, someone should've been brought who could.

We did eventually get an instant action mode in the form of Skirmish, but it was EXTREMELY limited in capacity. The majority of content is still unavailable for it, and AI behavior, pathing, team difficulty balance, ability to utilize all turrets/vehicles/Heroes/etc. and general gameplay functionality have a lot of problems that need to be addressed. Not to mention there's a complete lack of any match parameter or player and AI customization options.

What's worse is these same mistakes were repeated with Star Wars: Battlefront II. Worse still, Battlefront II is inexplicably missing some of the amazing features the previous installment included such as private matches, player statistics, AI Hero Ships, and online support for Instant Action and Arcade so players could play co-op/versus with a friend without having to share a screen like Skirmish and Missions in the last game (this shafted PC players because, with PC split-screen support omitted again, co-op/versus are completely absent from the PC version. Unacceptable.).

This situation angers me because, the above issues aside, both games are incredible and I love 'em, but they could've been much more. They have HUGE amounts of potential, and EA and DICE let it go to waste. That drives me crazy. I want to play all the modes, characters, maps, and vehicles in full matches and have an absolute blast like I did when both games or any of their expansions were released... but I can't.

Part of me still hopes DICE and EA will go back and release one or two major updates for each game to address these issues.
