Having played this game and initially feeling a bit disappointed. I agree that more content is needed to allow this game to thrive.
Look at the likes of the Rainbow Six Siege model.
I think this game could become very successful if first they fix all the bugs, add more free content, more maps, more game modes, then look at an optional DLC/Season Pass model.
Perhaps even a battlepass system which could allow dedicated fans to obtain content for free. A faction system with login and daily challenge bonus.
Come on EA you could make a fortune on this, if you listen and take note of the feedback from your community. Then I believe this game could go from strength to strength!!!

@ant0067i I don't want to see any DLC/season/battlepass for this game ever. DLC's/map packs/microtrans etc.. all helped put is in this position where EA decided to make a $40 standalone that brought us here in the first place.
The only viable solution is to treat this base game as STANDALONE and will always remain this way (aside from bug fixes). Any additional content must be either a. brough via an EXPANSION PACK as was done in the past or b. We all simply have to wait for SW Squadrons 2 to be released.
It's apparent EA decided to go this route as a trial balloon to float as they are getting a lot of flack from 'games as a live service' for treating gamers as creatures to be milked rather than selling them 'complete' products worth purchasing as whole.

- 5 years agoBullitMagnitt74 I do agree with you generally, and initially I argued the very same thing. However having played the game I am left wanting more. Now considering I only paid £24.99 to pre order this, I do feel there is some scope for future expansions. Why not? If they make a new Star Wars film, will you not watch it?It was never meant as a full price game anyway. I am totally against pay to win, or micro transactions, but quality content for a game is always a good thing. But it costs money to develop.Mass Effect Andromeda was one of my favourite games, absolutely loved it. I would have bought the DLC in a heartbeat, but because it got slatted it was scrapped. Left wanting more!!!Anthem, another good game in my opinion, played it for 70 hours great. Admittedly the end game content was rubbish, but so was Destiny 2 when it first launched. Left wanting more!!!!God of War PS4. This game was screaming out for DLC. None forthcoming!! Left wanting more!!!!Fifa is released every year, Madden, WWE Wrestling, NBA, and many many more franchises!!!If a game is single player then I agree it should be complete, unless there is a demand for more. But this is an online game, adding more content to an existing game is a much easier task than starting afresh and keeps the fans and community happy.I never thought I'd argue in favour of being charged extra for content, but this game seriously needs it, and Motive who made the game should be praised from the highest rafters and need everyone's support to persuade EA that the dark side is a dangerous path to go down!!!!!
- BullitMagnit745 years agoSeasoned Hotshot@ant0067i i will certainly agree with you this game is begging for more content. it deserves it like no other game i can recollect.
But i would still hope they approach it as an expansion pack, because all the assets/game engine etc, is there. I would hate for them to take any/all ideas and roll them up into SW:Squadrons 2 because that means this game dies and it just becomes another international mess like EA Sports games or Call of Duty franchise.. base minor improvements =/= full price games, but they will charge full price because they can.
Expansion packs continue the longevity, add features/ships/maps/etc.. of a game. So yes, i guess nowadays Expansion pack and DLC can be considered one and the same. But i would stay away from marketing it as one as DLC is now a negative connotation. And certainly stay away from any form of Season or Battle pass.. those are basically as bad as pre-orders for the PROMISE of something good, but you're locking in up front rather than waiting to see the bits piece by piece to see if they're worth buying in the first place.
Old school this. Make an expansion pack, price it accordingly, hell even go back and make a 'shareware' level where they'll allow players without the expansion to play the levels for free but for a 3 or 5 minute limit, just so they can wet their lips on BWings and Endor. One taste, and they'll buy that up a plenty.- BullitMagnit745 years agoSeasoned Hotshot@BullitMagnit74 "..this game dies and it just becomes another international mess like EA Sports games or Call of Duty franchise.."
meant to say "iteration-al" not international.
