Jedi Fallen Order crashes when I launch it from Steam

Over the years, I played Jedi Fallen Order on my PS4. Then, my PS4 broke so I decided to download it on Steam. After downloading the game, I was so excited to play. When I launched the game it opened the Origin page. I signed up for Origin and continued. But, when I launched the game for the second time, I received a crash message. The game did not load in and I did not even see the intro screen but it said I was getting time played on the game. Here is the crash message:

I was wondering if there is any way to fix this. Currently, I am on an acer laptop and have windows 11. My GPU is an Intel (R) with UHD graphics, and my CPU is an Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10300H CPU that runs at 2.50 Ghz.

  • @EA_Leeuw I was able to get it working just for a minute. I don't think I can fix this but thank you so much for the suggestion!

@ShrimpaN17, oh, alright. Well, if you would like me to continue the investigation, feel free to poke the thread again. 🙂
  • So I can tell you what I did to get the game to work in a jenky way.

Find the origin.exe file in your origin folder and move it to a different folder, I just moved it to my desktop.

Then I launched the game from this executable file "SwGame-Win64-Shipping.exe" found in Steam>SteamApps>common>Jedi Fallen Order>SwGame>Binaries>Win64 directory.

Your directory might be different but where ever the game is installed that is where you find it. Essentially something is wrong with Origin and this completely bypasses Origin fooling your PC somehow. You can NOT launch the game from Steam though. You have to use that exe I gave you. I'm just telling you where my trouble shooting stopped.

Things I did try before all this that lead to nothing (out of order):

    1) Updating graphics card (already up to date, so didn't do anything)

    2) Made a registry edit to some file to fix my error: "LowLevelFatalError [File:Unknown] [Line: 1145] GameThread timed out waiting for RenderThread after 120.00 secs......"   that I saw on a forum (that didn't fix it.)

    3) Tried launching Steam, Origin, and game in administrator mode through "Compatibility" options (did nothing)

    4) Changed DPI settings (did nothing)

    5) Unistalled/reinstalled game (did nothing)

    6) Uninstalled/reinstalled Origin (did nothing)

    7) Changed Date & Time on PC to try and trick something... don't know why I found this on so many forums... (Did nothing)

    8) Tried setting the game's exe to run in Windows 8 compatibility, even though I am on Windows 10, just read it on a forum so tried it. (Did nothing)

9)Changed firewall settings and checked antivirus (did nothing)

Like you, the game was working just fine for about a week or less after I purchased it during the labor day sales event (in the year of our Lord 2022). Then in the middle of playing the game my whole system froze so I did a hard restart and then this problem came about. I may have tried more steps but that is all I can recall right now. Wish there was an actual way to fix this problem. I also can't believe there is no chat support for a company as large as EA, really *snip* stupid in 2022.

*Did nothing means: Did not solve my problem of playing the game I payed for after deep diving for hours on multiple forums and videos trying to find a solution.

CM edit: don't swear. We can see that.
