It turned out to be a corrupted save file. I deleted all data for the game and did a fresh reinstall, then started again. It worked from then on, and I also made sure to
close the application before turning off my PlayStation each time, just in case it was attempting autosaves.
Not ideal, but when it actually crashes like this, that’s the only solution.
