Have you tried standing almost on top of the chair for about 30 seconds? It took about that long before BD jumped down and the scan button appeared for me.

Having the same problem. The fix Cooldevo mention dont seem to work for me.

    I am playing on Xbox One and I had to stand on top of the chair and look at the creature for about 1 minute then BD dropped down to do the scan.
