PC Game controller help?

Hi all,

I recently got the game and have been playing with a usb logitech plug and play controller.  Everything was working fine until recently when a button started to stick. I took the controller apart and put it back together and then when I plugged it into the computer and battlefield won't recognize it.  It works with steam so I know I didn't break it, but it just won't register with battlefront.  Controller is enabled in the game settings, all settings have been restored to default, the controller is operational, I checked any settings on Nvidia, and I reinstalled the game. Everything should be working, but the menus on battlefront only give me options using the keyboard and mouse, before it would say "press A" or "press X", now it says "press space" or "press 1" to make selections.  The controller's driver is up to date.  One point of note* when I plugged in the controller again it said "installing driver for device", maybe this reset/messed up the driver?  The device is working and drivers updated when I check through the computer, I updated Nvidia and Origin doesn't have a controller setting that I saw.  Like I said, it was working with this game just an hour before all  this happened and I've been playing it for days.  I'm assuming its the game, but I reinstalled it and restored factory settings, am I missing anything?    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Delete your profile file in My Documents - STAR WARS Battlefront - settings and boot the game up.  Might work

    Hi thanks for the reply,

It unfortunately did not work.  I like playing with the mouse and keyboard, but when flying or operating vehicles I find the controller to be a bit easier to use.  Like I said, it was working fine for days with the controller.  I could assign buttons for the controller or the mouse and keyboard (It automatically set up settings on the controller which I liked, I didn't have to do anything but plug it in the first time around)  Now it won't even let me assign the keys on the controller.  It must have some sort of driver in the game which prioritizes one thing over another depending.  It used to let me use both until I played it for a bit without a controller.  I turned it on the next day and plugged it in and nothing happened.

It did a similar thing with borderlands 2,  I had to do a trick where I plugged in the the controller in after it booted up and then it would work.   But that trick stopped.  I'm going to unplug the mouse and keyboard after booting up the game and see if it "defaults" to the controller.

No it didn't.  IDK what to do.  It's gotta be something with the game setting the keyboard and mouse to default.

    Hi @slayerfriday

    I'm sorry to hear that,

" One point of note* when I plugged in the controller again it said "installing driver for device", maybe this reset/messed up the driver?"

Yes, it probably did, you have to install the drivers from the manufacturer's website.

Xbox One controller drivers come pre-installed with Windows 10, but I would recommend you to install them again.

If it's another controller then you'll have to go to the manufacturer's website and download it from there.

Only connect your controller before you launch the game, and not inside the game.

    Hope this helps,

    Have a nice day!
