PC-Keyboard : Drift button may not work after using Tie Power Shunting
Product: Star Wars: Squadrons
Platform:PC
Please specify your platform model. PC
What is your gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name? OtterSparrow
Are you playing in VR? No
Which part of the game is the issue happening in? Fleet Battles
What were you doing when the bug occurred? Step by Step detail is helpful. I'm on PC using mouse and keyboard. I'm on a Tie Fighter/Bomber, playing the game as usual. I'm getting focused so I attempt to escape using boosting and drifting. I overcharge my engines by shunting power from weapons to engines (scroll mouse-wheel up). I start boosting (space bar). I want to start drifting : I press the dedicated drift button (shift) and start aiming to the side in the direction I want to drift. Nothing happens, boost doesn't stop, ship keeps going straight at full speed. I press shift again repeatedly and nothing happens. I decide to cancel boost manually, usually by throttling down (S) (I'm used to doing it that way to get better turning speed). Afterwards the dedicated drift button (shift) is 'unstuck' and I can chain drifts as usual with no issue. It usually won't happen again in the next moments (I often spam shunting to get some extra boost on my way back to resupply and the drift doesn't get stuck repeatedly) but it will happen again, on my next bombing run of after a while.
Where did this issue occur? Please include menu name or in game location. In game, in fleet battles (probably in other modes but that's what I've been playing). Seems related to using Tie power shunting (convert from weapons to engines) before boosting and attempting to drift. I might be wrong and seeing a correlation where there is none, but I don't remember it happening with republic ships or in any other context.
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 01.02.2021 I think I remember it happening in earlier versions but it happened very consistently yesterday.
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
How severe is your issue? Can play with mild frustration
What happens when the bug occurs? The dedicated Drift button (Shift) stops working. My ship keeps boosting forward, possibly crashing into something if I can't manage to cancel boost some other way (throttle down or boost button again). After I've cancelled boost, the Drift button is back to working as usual and I can chain drifts with no issue. But it will most likely get stuck again on one of the next few times I'll try to boost right after overcharging engines with emergency power converter.
What do you expect to see? I'd like to drift 🙂
Which ship were you playing? If not applicable, just answer "no" or "none." Tie Bomber and Tie Fighter
What components were you using? Doesn't seem related to component. I've been playing some Tie Bomber with Boost Extension Kit. Drifting was often blocked when I overcharged engines through power shunting but I don't remember it being stuck when overcharging through the extension kit or just regular power distribution. It happened on different loadouts, without the extension kit.
Which customizations (if any) were you using? I have a few custom bindings but I think Space to Boost, Shift to Drift, and mousewheel up and down for Power Shunting are all default.
Been having some bad luck these last few days with my Drift button getting 'stuck'. After several games where this happened I think I can somewhat confidently say this happened fairly reliably on TIEs, right after I shunted all power to engines to make a quick escape (or crash miserably into some obstacle because I couldn't turn in time 🙂 ).
