PC

Hi all. I am running around in circles with this problem and it's driving me insane - hope someone out there can help!   Background. Bought Star Wars Battlefront Nov 2015 - all ok no problem - gam...

    I don't know which post to click on as the solution.

    Without the CBS fix - I'm not sure the Clean Boot would have worked properly and without the Clean Boot fix I wouldn't have identified the GameFirst programme! 

    Can I click on 2 posts as 'solutions'? I don't want to deny either of you credit for the solution as your combined efforts solved the problem! 

    What should I do?

Thanks for your reply and I understand that you must be busy and I really appreciate your time helping me.

I ran sfc/scannow again still all good which I am very happy about!

Safe mode with networking - let me open the Origin client but not the game as it said it only detected Microsoft Rendering something and that I needed to update my amd/nvidia/intel drivers. Can't remember exact message sorry.

cleaned Origin Cache - no luck

I enabled UAC to always notify and disabled AV - reboot- no luck

Then tried Clean Boot - restarted PC, opened game and this time IT WORKED! It connected online straight away, and menu animation worked fine, could select menu options smoothly and quickly so seems all ok.  I need to try this a few more times and let you know if it continues to work.

Any idea what this might mean?

1.In Safe Mode I think the notification saying something about to update your ethernet driver๐Ÿค”You need to check this more likely.

2.You need to do this add firewall/antivirus exceptions for Origin and open the needed ports http://help.ea.com/en/article/connection-issues-with-origin/#1

Follow instructions above to open TCP or UDP ports for Star Wars:Battlefront for PC.

TCP-  3569, 9946, 9988, 10000 - 29999, 42100-42200

 

UDP-  3659, 9565, 9570, 9000-9999

3.We are on the right track,now go in Origin / My Games tab  right click on the game SW:B, select Game Properties, and tick disable Origin In Game.

4.Then run a repair on the game by right clicking the game tile in Origin client and selecting the Repair Game option followed by Check for Updates.

    Just to update you - I have repeated the msconfig solution several times and the game works fine every time.  

    Obviously this isn't a permanent solution but I havent had time yet to try your suggestions from your last reply.  

    I will hopefully be able to try this week.

    Hi @yahel_1

    Hope you are well.

    I have used cports software to determine that the local TCP port that SWBF game is using is 50186. see attached.  

    I don't really understand what this means but I looked at the link and several like it but none of them (as far as I can see) show you how to actually open up these ports ie showing the steps to do it!

    Sorry if its obvious or I missed something but how do you do it?

    If a clean boot is solving the issue , use this link  scroll down to "how to determine what is causing the problem" find what is causing the issue you see.

    From checking the latest reliability report it seems that Nvidia network stream service keeps having critical errors.  I will disable that and if that doesn't work then I will go through the steps in the link you provided.

    Thanks for the link- by process of elimination hopefully I should be able to identify whats causing the problem.

    Hi @yahel_1, @proxos666 and @EA_David

    Good News.

    Following on from @proxos666 link, as Clean Boot worked, by process of elimination I narrowed the search down to one item. It appears that the problem was the ironically named Asus Game First programme.  As far as I know I have never used this program but I think it was included with the motherboard installation DVD and I installed more or less everything on that DVD. I may have opened the programme to have a look but don't think I did anything with it.

    Anyway, I disabled the Game First service, restarted PC and all ok with EA games including SWBF, Battlefield 4 etc.  I then uninstalled the Game first programme and so far no problems since with any games loading or getting online so I think it's time to press the problem solved button!

    I just wanted to say thanks to all of you for sticking with the problem and helping me fix it. I have no idea why GameFirst would affect Origin but not Steam but there is no way I would have found it was a problem without the help you gave me.

    With the CBS error fixed I finally have a fully functional Windows 10 running and a problem free Origin working properly as well for the first time!  

    It's great that you take the time to help people like me and I really appreciate it - hopefully it will help others who stumble across this post as well!
