Re: Requires New Nvidia Drivers

I did a little digging around on my PC and I think you can find your driver information here in this location: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Installer2\Drivers

I'm not sure what to edit at that point. I got this information from a super old forum here: http://superuser.com/questions/64900/how-can-i-find-remotely-the-nvidia-graphics-drivers-version-on-windows-xp-client (and then took some modern liberties with it, since we aren't on XP)

A more recent forum has a pretty good walk-through here, which sources a different location in the registry: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/display-driver-stopped-responding-and-has/30570f98-7fe9-4b72-9d0b-e929ee8173c6?auth=1

This occurs from sloppy handling, both locally and at the source level.  It easily avoided by using the CLEAN install procedures.  For those players reluctant to prowl inside the Registry (can be catastrophic if you screw up), you have to totally uninstall the current drivers, then use CCleaner or similar software to do the Registry cleanup, after which, the reinstalled drivers will be fine!

  • in most cases you would be right, but that last 3 nvidia drivers for the 860m just plain do not work.
