Re: Skill Tree Question?

What are some early skills that you think would help me or anyone else starting the game have an easier time in the beginning? I noticed that on Bagano (as an example), some fierce enemies can take huge chunks of your health early on, almost to the point that you can't be hit or you'll die.

I think Survival Skills is a necessary one as well as Improved Stims, and Force Attunement (since slowing enemies helps a bunch).

I think a lot has to do with your play style and play preferences. That said, it wasn't till I was 2/3rds of the way through the game before I understood the importance of stint/force management and adjusted my tree build accordingly. Some tips from my perspective (and play style):

  • Don't be fooled by the linear play. While this game is largely on rails, you can explore and should (sooner rather than later). I did not do enough of this early on and missed upgrades and character improvements (i.e. additional stints) which would have helped in the more difficult fights.
  • It is ok to fail in order to learn what will work against a difficult enemy. One of my complaints with this game is that the "boss" fights differ drastically to the gameplay of regular encounters (Stormtroopers, spiders, etc.). They are much more difficult and techniques learned in regular gameplay don't seem to apply as easily to "boss" fights. Toward the end, I took a few deaths to just try and figure out how the enemy behaved in relation to my abilities.
  • Get good at dodge, block and parry. Practice the timing of this with easy troopers and creatures.
  • In terms of skill tree, balance (cheesy I know) is key. While survival and force are important to stay alive during a difficult encounter, so is a solid skill-set in lightsaber. Some of the lightsaber skills further up the tree really help with the challenging fights. Early on I felt that health and health management and crowd control helped me quite a bit.
  • Top skills that helped the  most:
    • Agile deflection
    • Grasping pull-Get this ASAP after Zeffo and use it! It is amazing.
    • Mass and Howling push- again crowd managment.
    • Power of friendship (late game)- I should have caught on to this sooner.
    • Lightsaber throw

I had a lot of fun playing this game, even with the jump in difficulty levels for encounters. I hope you get back into it and enjoy.

Good luck!
