I think @DutchDoctor put it pretty well with "heartbreaking". Like a lot of you I've been pretty much waiting for this game since the original TIE Fighter. When Squadrons was announced with the similar mechanics and first person only (hate the fact that you HAVE to play 3rd person in Battefront on the ground and in space unless you want to be at a massive disadvantage) I was excited that this was finally the game I was waiting for.
This was also the game that, again like a lot of people, made me take the plunge and finally buy a VR kit (Index).
The game has so much potential (the times I have managed to play in it in VR, even with the issues, have been fantastic) and I was hoping if it was successful then there'd either be things added later or a Squadons 2, but this refresh rate issue has taken the shine off.
I'm lucky that I have a 60hz monitor so I can at least play without headaches on pancake, but.... it's not the same. Once you've been in VR (and I've played other VR games that have been incredible and totally smooth) everything just feels... flat.
I'm not mad that a game has bugs at launch (software is complex) but what has mostly let this down is communication. I don't care if the update is "we still don't know what the problem is, we're still investigating" every couple of days - the important thing is managing expectations and letting your customers know. If people know you're working on something, even if not making much progress, they'll be far more patient than radio silence (or very sparse acknowledgements).
Not mad just... disappointed
