@WarGravy00You can run on Ultra but with limited framerates/vsync and your temps are going to be much lower that if you run without them at the same time and on lowest settings.
Doesnt matter the game doesnt matter the resolution, doesnt matter the graphical settings, the gpu and cpu are going to generate the most number of images they can, so they will work more.
For example, i run BallisticNG which is a game that's not demanding (but great) limited by my choice (every game should have a user defined frame control) on 250fps and vsync off (helps input latency). every effect on at 1440p
Runs waaaay cooler than without user frame control going all out at over 800fps vsync off, effects off.
There's around a 10°C difference, but still under 80°C in the worst case. *Edit: under 80°C for the GPU and under 70°C for the CPU in the worst case
Your CPU shouldn't reach 100°C, in any case you mentioned limited or not limited.
I will play cautious here and write it so no one tries to twist this info: i would imagine someone trying to say: oh they limited the framerate to protect the CPU.... nice try, but that would be a lie, you can go all out with the frames and your GPU and CPU will take care of themselves via their cooling solutions/internal management. Its how they are designed to work. (for example, as soon as temps go up too much, turbo boost will automatically deactivate, which will lower the temps substantially)
You missed to mention what cooler you are using for your cpu
