Star Wars Squadrons: Won't Launch

I purchased Squadrons from the Epic Games Store, I was able to get some playtime in, as far as completing the entire story mode. I was even able to play a bit of the multiplayer. At some point in time, I decided to plug in my Logitech F310 Gamepad and this is when the issue started to roll in. I got some games in with it and closed the game. The next time I launched the game, I couldn't go any farther than the EAC Splashscreen, it fills up completely and closes.

With that in mind, I tried a new PC (barely used, relatively new). I downloaded Squadrons, used the gamepad, and again, when I closed the game, it wouldn't launch again.

I've basically gone through a lot of the Forum to check if anything would have Squadrons work once more, to no avail. Not sure if the gamepad is the issue but these have been starting the moment I closed the game when using the gamepad. Hope to hear from someone soon and have a great day.

  • @EA_Atic Unfortunately, no; the game does not start up despite having the game pad disconnected from the PC.
  • I have a similar situation, if I have my old Thrustmaster Afterburner connected to my PC, the game won´t run, just exits before the start screen appears

  • I have the same situation with a "Saitek Cyborg Evo Force" flight stick. Playing through Steam.

In my case, when the controller is NOT connected to the computer, Squadrons runs and works.

When the controller is connected to the computer, I get the splash screen, the blue bar goes 100%, and then it disappears (but the process is still running) - and nothing happens. Does not run.

    Any help?

  • See a partial solution (only single player) to this problem here:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/SW-Sq-crashes-after-Splash-Screen/m-p/10417636/highlight/false#M5715

I managed to play (single-player) SW: Squadrons with the Saitek Cyborg EVO Force - by bypassing the easyAntiCheat launcher which was not happy with the drivers.

The way I did it was really simple (found it online).

    • Open the folder for Star wars: Squadrons. This can be found by right clicking on the game on Steam Library > Properties > Local Files > Browse. The folder should look something like "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\STAR WARS Squadrons".
    • Rename the file "starwarssquadrons_launcher.exe" to something else (for example, "starwarssquadrons_launcher_old.exe")
    • Rename the file "starwarssquadrons.exe" to "starwarssquadrons_launcher.exe"
    • This will avoid the easyAntiCheat launcher from running, and Steam will directly run star wars squadrons executable without the easyAntiCheat splash screen - this way it worked and detected the Joystick!

Let me know if it works for you!

  • dont know the reason why but it still wont launch

I have just bough the game in 2024 and when i try to open it the eac runs and than closes the exe

tried renaming tried verifying the files updating the drivers nothing works EA please try to fix this problem

is this the reason it was for 2 dollars or what?
