Lots and lots of google searching later I located the fix that worked for me (again).  The problem:  Some reflective surfaces (some areas of snow, shiny metallic or icy planes)  would fill or partially fill the screen with blinding white when I looked at them from certain angles - particularly bad on Hoth and Tatooine in single player battles (haven't played multiplayer yet so can't comment on that aspect).

Anyway, the fix that worked for me is:

If you’re experiencing crashes of any kind on the PC version (especially if you’re running an older graphics card), you could try adding some launch options to the game:

    • Right-click on the game in Origin.
    • Choose Game Properties.
    • Type “-novid -noborder -windowed” in the box (without the quotation marks).
    • Check “Disable Origin in Game for this game”

I think it's specifically dot point 3 as disabling Origin in game prior to adding the suggested launch options made no difference.  The added launch options haven't made any other changes to appearance or game play that I can see, but they've solved the Battlefront Glare issue that at least 2 of us are having.

    Good luck!

I'm having the exact same problem with a Radeon (6600m and 6700m - running on macbook pro 2011 with bootcamp).  I managed to fix the issue after searching online, but following a reinstall I'm back with a game that's unplayable at certain times because I literally can't see anything.  It's the same problem on all levels (ice or desert, indoors or out).  If I locate the fix I found last time I'll post it here.

My son has just pointed out that even with the fix provided, the Han Solo character in the single player battles has the "glare bug".  He appears to be literally emanating the same white blast of light as the shiny surfaces mentioned in earlier posts.  Changing camera angles doesn't fix the issue.

Multiplayer doesn't seem to be affected by the glare bug off reflective surfaces - although I've only played this mode since adding launch options so this fix may have solved the problem.

  • I have a similar

problem with the han solo character in single or multi player. There is a small light dot the seems to start from his belt and as you move or the camera angle changes * turns into a bright glare that fills the screen. Most of the time it is impossible to play his character.

  • I have 16 g RAM + 4 G graphics card

and I have never been able to play this game, this is why I stopped buying anything from EA or Origin

I figure you are basically unable to provide acceptable quality.

@rodrigoaverna Could not agree more with this statement. I have highend games, on a RTX2080, no issues what so every with even experimental ray tracing, DSR and the like. BF II crashes, or chokes, on the they highest performing consumer graphics card money can buy... and it's not the hardware. It's the developer. QA is terrible. QC is ignored altogether. First EA game I bought in ten years and it's still the same old story. Quality sucks.

I'm closing this thread to stop it being necroed.

If you have any issues with SWBF please make a new topic about the issues you are having and what kind of steps you have tried to solve it.
