Update 3.0 - Dogfight team balancing issue ?

Hi there,

Right after the 3.0 update today, I played 5 dogfights in a row as an Empire player (I guess some prefer to play as Rebels, can't figure out why 🙂

It may be bad luck but 4 of this fights were waaaay to unbalanced, with sums of levels like 40 vs 150. It was - of course - rather unplayable. The 5th was almost balanced.

I'm not a high level player and I usually don't complain, but I still play rather often and I couldn't see this kind of gap that often.

It may be another issue, but I also could hardly kill my targets with my Interceptor equiped with Rapid Fire Canon. It may be too soon to blame the latest update, but I'm almost certain it was not that difficult to shoot even a single A-Wing before (X-Wing were almost unbeatable during these fights, constantly shooting at them for several seconds and still no kill - but against very experienced players with full shields, why not).

Have you experienced the same since the 3.0 update ?

  • @D0releiI was the only player on my team that wasn’t level 1, and i was facing people that were levels 30-40
    (I’m level 22-ish)

    (Yes, I stink at video games, no need for anyone reading this to remind me)

  • yup, I'm fed up with this. The teams are so unbalanced still. In fact, it feels worse since v3.0

    looks like I'll be waiting for the next patch to come through before I touch multiplayer again. You are handicapped from the start.

    I'm even seeing low-level players leave mid-game now more often than before, as they now face players between level 30 and 100+ and just get stomped on all the time. This leaves the team short, (for some reason the other team always seems to have all 5) and happens so often now that it's not fun anymore.
    With this and the messed up ranking, multiplayer becomes a chore that gets you nowhere.

  • For your second problem, same. I suffered from a lot of hit detectections problems yesterday. Could see my shoots hit the enemy, the little explosions on his hull confirming the hit, but his life not moving.

    A problem I had not before the update.

    It's working for me. This was recorded last night, after the patch:

    I'm not saying nothing changed. It did feel a little funny immediately after the patch, but in a few minutes I adjusted and everything was as it had been before.

    As far as hitting people and not doing damage, I've heard complaints of this when fighting folks who're in another country, due to latency (lag).

    Look at the sum of the ranks in your video : 173 vs 98, and you are one of the most experienced player in this game, of course it will be fine 😃 (nice stats though)

    Playing as Empire in these conditions is almost impossible for average players (skill and other stuff compensate the lack of shield but not this point). There shouldn't be a so huge gap between players, or at least between teams.

    I'm not sure about lag afaik as I didn't notice anything weird (at least visually), but I didn't have time to watch my target health while firing, I will try next time (I'm a bit jaded for now).

    Maybe a lot of new players due to Steam sales make the servers a bit laggy ? But it doesn't explain why I now see 3 or 4 60+ players against five < 20 ones.

    Dog fight balance! OMG I am a lousy pilot, yet I was learning and beginning to get kills, then last night my entire teams levels added together did not equal the lowest level "worst" opponents level!!

    Why? totally not fun when you don't even have a chance to get close enough to shoot before you get killed.
