Demand Retribution
As a loyal EA consumer and life long Star Wars fan I find this to be the largest disappointment in recent times. CD Projekt Red had a similar disaster when they rushed Cyberpunk's premature release. It's really hard to put deadlines on unfinished games and release them within said deadlines. It is really poor business practice and it leaves a foul taste in the mouths of dedicated fans. We pump our hard earned money into these misadventures to live out fantasies to escape whatever in life, experiences like these are not just frustrating but traumatic. This effects us emotionally and financially.
Would it have been disappointing to delay the game, yes. Would it have been as disappointing as this failed launch? No. I used to not understand why people jumped on the lawsuit bandwagon but incidents like this are becoming common practice. Studios care less and less for the customer base and only about how they can separate us from our money. Without our support (financially) your studios would not exist. The statement that was released felt like a slap in the face, blaming our equipment for failure. If that were truly the case then why is it that I am reading performance issues are unilaterally plaguing this game, no matter the platform?
If you truly care about us and wish to continue enjoying our business then I firmly believe something needs done. Refunds, no. I don't think that would be just, after all it is a beautiful game, the few minutes that it actually works. However the insult of merely making us wait for patches is not even remotely fair. This should have been worked out in Beta Test, not passed on to us. Why would I want to pay to test a game, especially one this flawed? Aren't you supposed to employ your testers and don't they generally get paid?
I believe there can be a fair solution to all of this that makes everyone happy in the end. A partial refund perhaps, say 15%. That might seem slightly fair, that isn't much at all so you still remain in the profit margin and we feel less taken advantage of. How about some really cool in game content as an apology? I mean some Galen Marek/Starkiller themed attire and cosmetics would be cool. Heck I'd love to ride a rancor like Boba Fett, new mounted beasts with their own attacks would be a pretty great apology too.
In closing I don't think I am alone in the way I feel. I know users from Xbox to PlayStation to PC all feel really taken advantage of here and certainly unappreciated. Respawn and EA have released some amazing content and I know you are capable of doing better, however the way you released the statement about the problems showed us that you were not only well aware prior to release of these issues but you tried to shrug it off and your solution is simply... "Wait"! Why should we wait for what we have already purchased? Was the waiting not what preorder was already part of? Get funds in quick to continue the work prior to release so you can fix your bugs. That's the purpose of preorder, this allows smaller studios to not bankrupt themselves while "buying" time to finish and perfect the promised product. Think about that. We demand to be heard on this and we demand some sort of fair retribution that shows you respect and appreciate your consumers, without bankrupting yourselves in the process!
