Do you have any other EA accounts that may have been logged in during this process? We'd want to be sure that if you had cleared the EA app cache and logged back in during this process that you're signed into the same account as before.
If there's any uncertainty you can contact support directly so they can double-check the code was claimed correctly and on the right account.
They should be able to help see what may have happened, though do note that if there are any issues with the code itself you'll likely need to speak with the retailer. I would definitely check through this page as well for more information on purchasing games from a trusted retailer.
