Jedi Survivor graphics issue: "black static"
Since I progressed to the second planet, Koboh, I started having this graphic rendering / visual glitch which causes areas of the screen to become more darkly colored or fully black.
note: I am playing on PC via Steam. I don't have any other platforms to test with.
I thought it might be an issue with my computer graphics, but everything is updated and should be able to handle the game. I also notices that the bug became worse, to the point where entire sections of the environment are affected and I can't see what is happening (which makes the game unplayable). I massed with the visual settings, but that didn't help. I looked for a solution online and saw a note about HDR issues, but I can't find any options in the settings to turn HRD on/off. I verified the game files (came back clean) and restarted the game. There was no improvement
I tried to look up this issue online to see if anyone had found a solution, but either I'm not calling the issue by the right name, or this is a new issue / uncommon issue, because I couldn't find anything that matched what I'm seeing. Thus, I figured I'd open a new ticket and see if I can get some help directly. Has anyone else seen this before? Anyone have any solutions I could try?
Hello! I'm back. Been busy, so it took a while before I was able to come back to this, and took longer to try the recommended solutions.
I went down the list of solutions, and none of them seemed to do much.
However, I did remember that I was able to fix another bug I had a while back by updating my graphics driver. With a bit of help from my wonderful father, I updated it again. I played the game for a while to see it the glitch would return, and it did not! The game runs as it is supposed to.
I don't know why this game in particular likes to pick a fight with my graphics driver or why it is so touchy with updates (as I've never had a graphics problem in any other game or program), but it seems to be the root cause. As this seems like it is going to continue to be an issue anytime my graphics driver goes out of date, and for anyone having similar issues, I'm going to put a step-by-step guide (to the best of my abilities) on how me and my father fixed it:
1. Open the start menu and search for "GeForce Experience". Open the window.
2. At the top, switch to the tab "Drivers"
3. The top bar should check for updates, ie. "GeForce GameReady Driver
4. If there is an update available, the bar will be green with an option to update on the right. Hit the button and follow the prompts. (If everything is up to date, the bar will be grey and above it will be a message "You have the latest GeForce Game Ready Driver"
5. After updating, restart the computer (I got a black bar across my screen after the update, but restarting repaired it)
After this the problem should be resolved. (If the issue is caused by the same thing.)
